Throughout the novel Tuesday’s With Morrie, the author, Mitch Albom, reflects on his Tuesday meetings with his old professor, now consumed with a terminal illness, and, using many rhetorical choices, reveals “The Meaning of Life,” which they discussed profusely and divided into several categories. Topics such as Death, Emotions, Aging, Money, Culture, and more are all discussed in their weekly conferences, Morrie passing his wisdom on to one of his favor students. And Albom, writing about their talks, uses numerous rhetoric devices to discuss this wisdom.
Everywhere we look there is some form of bullshit going around and according to Professor Frankhurt, bullshitting is a more serious threat than lying. In his essay he talks about the many concepts of bullshit from his own perspective and compares bullshit to other related topics such as “Humbug” and “Lying”, and then breaks the words down to a basic understanding to help find a true meaning of . His use of definitions and in depth analysis, makes his essay very effective in describing buullshit. It seems that his main concerns pertain to what bullshit is.
Summary: In the first couple of paragraphs, Kingston is told by her mother the story of her aunt who killed herself and child in the family well. Her mother continues to tell her about how when her aunt was pregnant and it came to having the child the villagers came to attack them, wearing white. They threw rocks and eggs at the house before raided it with the blood of the animals they had murdered before. Her mother said that they stayed there waiting for them to leave as the aunt gave birth in the pigsty. Kingston’s mother warns her never to tell her father that she knows, this was a warning to her not to follow in her footsteps.

During my years of being a scholar most of my writings have come mainly from research papers. My teachers would either assign a research topic or you could choose your own. Sometimes we even got readings or books that we would have to read and write a paper on. This past semester I took English 1001 and typed papers I had never learned to do before and I also learned how to do an annotated bibliography. With this in mind, it is important when conducting research to be aware of the rhetorical devices an author may be using and how they effect a person’s research. Recent research on learning styles has turned out a wide range of facts, figures, and statistics. By studying rhetoric, a researcher can better identify a biased source. Over the past several decades, awareness of the three learning styles has grown significantly. As a result, many educators have endeavored to spread understanding of the importance of learning styles in the classroom to the public. He reveals the hypocrisy of the people and their institutions of the time by effectively using humor as his tool to compose this widely known satirical piece. His tone throughout his work also suggests as to what he would deem appalling in modern society and what the most likely subjects of his satirical criticism would be.

In “The Biggest Loser” (October 23, 2015), Paul Krugman asserts that the Benghazi committee is a witch hunt and that ¨Trey Gowdy and company” are chumps. Mr. Krugman illustrates his displeasure with the committee and the head of it, Trey Gowdy, through belittling diction and Rhetorical question. He uses this choice in diction and rhetorical question in order to deter anyone from taking the accusations of the committee seriously by calling not only the committee “chumps” and but anyone who listens to the committee an ¨ even bigger chump” then the committee is. Krugman appeals to his more liberal audience by talking about the committee, and its tea party support, with a tone of contempt by using insulting diction like “loser” and “chump”.

The populist leaders of Latin American countries fought vigorously against the strong-headed elites and foreign countries who had the power, wealth, and prestige to undermine populist rule. Populism was a new political tool and movement that was of the people. The leaders had to be charismatic and would often pledge to yield to the concerns of the masses who they wanted support from. Two of those leaders include, Getúlio Vargas and Hugo Chávez whom hold very similar views regarding the working-class masses and the imperialism inflicted upon them by the United States.
