Any United States citizen can work, usually starting at the age of 16, but not in my case. Even though I am not a citizen, I can legally live in the U.S. and attend school, except the fact that I cannot work. It doesn’t make sense does it? Currently, any person with an H-4 visa cannot work while physically living in the United States. Having an H-4 visa means one cannot earn any income or possess a social security number. This law also prohibits things like working from one’s own home, obtaining used stuff for the purpose of selling it on eBay, or providing services in exchange for gifts or objects of value. This law is so uncompromising that it does not even allow volunteering completely for free if the volunteer position is one for which a person would normally be paid. This law has to change because it not only has affected my family in several ways for the past 10 years, but the thousands of immigrant families with an H-4 visa currently living in the United States. I am only 18 years old, and not only am I stuck in an H-4 visa but additionally, my Father, as he is also a dependent of my Mother. My Father …show more content…
Even though she can work it is not permanent. Our family is yet to receive our green card, which grants permanent residence in the United States. Our green card has not arrived yet because it is still being processed. It has been processing for the past 13 years, and there are many years remaining till we attain it .So the day my mom loses her Job, our family has to move back to India unless we get our green card. This absolutely is not fair, not only to my family, but to the thousands of immigrants coming to the US an ending up with an H-4 visa and a delayed green card. I can’t imagine all the people struggling in the US not being able to get a job, because the day that one person in the household who can work loses their job, they have to go back to their
Mexican Americans have immigrated and emigrated to Americas since before the Mexican American war of 1848. Immigration of Chicanos has been happening for a very long time, but the only difference is that it is now becoming a problem. Before the border was created Mexicans would legally cross to America, with no immigration problems, until 1924. When the border was created, Mexicans and Chicanos no longer has access to their old Chicano lives. Children continue to illegally be brought to America in search of better opportunities.
With every new president comes new appointees and with new appointees comes change. These new changes can radically affect how education will be affected. As of now, many DACA students worry for their future, Betsy DeVos plans to change public education and the future decision on transgender bathroom use can make an impact on education. DACA is a 2-year temporary resident status for immigrants, who as children were brought to the US illegally by their parents. Recently a big question has been brought to attention as to what will happen to students under DACA.
Argumentative Writing Undocumented immigrants are getting deported and they can’t have an experience they wanted to have when they came to america. But, because of the us government they can’t have this experience some get this experience but they still have to be very careful. They all also fear because some of them have kids then they fear for themselves and then there kids because it’s their family. Do you want to live in a community where you see mexican and people on the streets because of crossing the border. This is why i think that the government shouldn’t deport undocumented immigrants because then they don't get a chance to have an american experience.
One of America’s most controversial issues today is the border between the United States and Mexico. The big part of the issue is due to illegal immigration, which is when foreigners enter the U.S. without an entry or an immigrant visa. President Trump says he has found a solution, otherwise known as the “border wall,” but this will not stop people from wanting a better life. Of course I get why he and others would want to continue the process obviously to keep us safe from terrorists and other dangers of the world, but, to every pro there is a con. Even though the fence along the U.S./Mexico border is already being built, it should not continue being built because it is expensive, hurts the environment, and immigration rates have significantly dropped.
There are a lot of controversial issues surrounding this country. Whitin all those controversial issues there 's the “issue” of illegal immigration. I 'm sure we 're all familiar with the term “illegal immigration”. We’re always told about how bad it is. Don 't get me wrong, it is bad but it 's not done with the intention of hurting someone else but to try and change their future.
In Central America there are high levels of violence, particularly, in regard to gangs who are specifically targeting women. Resulting in families fleeing to the United States through the southern border. In an attempt to stop illegal immigration the current administration has been placing migrants, when caught, in detention centers. This is done as a message to others to not come over, and also as a holding place until they can be sent back to their home country. This becomes more controversial because of who is being held in these centers.
In times such as now, immigration policy is a topic of controversial and emotional discussion. The key in having educational, progressive, and prosperous conversations is understanding the theoretical foundations behind the argument that a person stands for or believes in. Having factual evidence to support ideas on concepts such as: the opportunities that immigrants bring to a country, what the international rules actually are that govern the entry and exit of people from one country to another, and the causes, trends, and consequences of international immigration. Finding reason and support for these claims can take the discussion behind immigration policy from one of heated and emotional argument to one of educational and beneficial conversation.
Not every immigrant get into the country using the legal means. There are those who get into the country on student visas and start working contrary to the visas they hold. There are others who get into the country illegally with no genuine United States visa. The immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 focusses on the matter of illegal immigration through placing major fines on the employers of those immigrants who hire them. The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 allowed a number of barriers to immigration.
Coming from A Mexican family, I along with my siblings are the first generation to have been born in the United States. As a child, I lived a great life. My only worries were of missing the paleteros, ice cream man, or being frustrated because nobody in my neighborhood wanted to buy my mud pies, but never was it that I would fear the fact that my family could be taken away. It wasn’t until I was older and heard more comments about there being a thing as “illegal” immigrants when I began to worry for my parents, however, at the same time I began to realize all the suffering and challenges they go through and have gone through to give my siblings and I the best life we can get. Immigrants are an important part of America, yet they don’t get the awareness they deserve.
Throughout the history of the United States, immigration has and continues to be an issue that is present today. Undocumented immigrants face many hardships living in our country with limited access to attain a lifestyle as any other American. These limitations affect undocumented immigrants in their daily lives and they face downward social mobility. In the workplace along with anywhere else, immigrants face fear of deportation and exploitation due to their ‘illegal’ immigration status, therefore they remain living in the shadows and in extreme distress. If opportunities such as a work permit was granted to immigrants, their chances of succeeding in the labor market would be rewarding.
As much as I understand the strengthening of immigration laws and reform. I think its unfair for illegal aliens to take jobs that otherwise wouldn’t be available. They end up getting these jobs because they work for significantly less than legal citizens. I can understand them being day laborers but taking away a job from someone more qualified is unacceptable. This issue also lies with employers.
Immigration has been and will continue to happen all around the world. There are so many reasons for people who come from different countries and ethnicities to move from country to country. The reasons why these people immigrate is either they are simply forced to, due to violence and hostility or that they are in search of a better life for them, and or their family etc. Canada being rated number one in quality of life has been a goal for people wanting to immigrate. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA) was established by the Canadian government in the year 2002.
Due to the large income of unskilled workers has allowed employers to give out low wages and actually allow there to be horrible working conditions. There seems to be a solution to this. By reducing low-skill immigration, we can strengthen the labor market and as well as increase wages along with them for the American people. Among being a burden on the work force, they are also harming
Schuylon Johnson Coach D. English IV Immigration in America The number of legal, and illegal immigrants have risen over the years, which has stirred more debate about immigration. Some think it’ll help the economy, and the others think that it’s affecting the economy, but in reality, immigration has been beneficial to a degree, but there are negative effects as well. A topic that is always discussed in America is with the increasing number of immigrants will there be an increase of terrorist attacks? Multiple people say yes, because of the previous terrorist attacks by Muslim.
Emigration, the act of such persons leaving their country and heading to a country of foreigners for different reasons. Immigration has never been an easy choice, but recently factors have made it easier. Immigrants, in my point of view, can be divided into two kinds, the first are people leaving their countries looking for a source of money and escaping the struggle of poverty, and the other kind are people looking for a peaceful life with no bombs damaging their hometowns every day, escaping wars and political persecutions looking for the freedom they have always been missing. I see that the immigration crisis nowadays is in its worst, as we can see, according to the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency), there are 65.6 million displaced people worldwide,
