Most of the gruesome and violent acts committed are by serial killers, and compare to others, serial killers are known to be charismatic but also sick in their minds. Most serial killers are usually male and have damage done to their brains or either been abused/witness violence throughout their childhood. Remarkably, most serial killer tend to display similar traits to each other because all great minds think alike. H. H. Holmes and Jack the Ripper are two serial killers that have indistinguishable cases, but both differ approaches, techniques, and what has happened to them.

Jack the Ripper is well-known for murdering women prostitutes in the streets of Whitechapel. Jack the Ripper was recored that he only killed prostitutes, “The Whitechapel Murders file, which covers the Ripper's killing spree, actually includes eleven murders, covering a period from 1888 to 1892 (http://www.jack-the-ripper.org/ ).” Far from Holmes, who killed anyone from a pregnant woman to little kids. Jack the Ripper’s technique was meeting his vitcums face to face, then murdering right there. Larson compared both Holmes and Jack, “Holmes did not kill face to face, as Jack the Ripper had done (Larson 256).” Jack was next to his victims when they die, and Holmes did his killing with proximity but never let his victims see his face. Jack the Ripper was never identified and was never caught, when he was on his killing sprees. Many investigators try to identify, “Since Jack the Ripper was never caught it is not really possible to say for certain how many victims he actually had (http://www.jack-the-ripper.org/ ).” Compared to Holmes, Jack’s killings ended earlier and there was little evidences because he used gloves and left behind no traces of
