In the Shakespeare play Hamlet, young Hamlet’s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by Claudius, the king’s brother. The king’s ghost speaks to young Hamlet about his death and that he wants revenge. Soon after the king’s death, Hamlet’s mother Gertrude marries Claudius. Hamlet is very upset with his mother because he feels that she did not mourn his father enough. Hamlet begins to act as if he has gone insane, even to his love, Ophelia, and edits a play to see how his uncle reacts. Hamlet adds a scene in a play that is being performed for the king and queen. The scene displays how the ghost told Hamlet of his death. To Hamlet’s advantage, Claudius reacts guilty and storms out. After this, many people die. Polonius, Ophelia’s father, is stabbed to death by Hamlet who thinks it is Claudius spying on his and his mother’s conversation. Ophelia supposedly drowns herself after going insane because of the death of her father. Hamlet’s …show more content…
Voldemort ensured he would have eternal life as long as parts of his soul into various objects of his. Voldemort the snuffed out witches and wizard who were not pure. This is how he rose to power, like how Claudius rose to power by killing his brother. Voldemort also had a servant that did a lot of his dirty work, similar to Polonius and Hamlet’s friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Wormtail, the servant, spied on Harry Potter like how Polonius spied on Hamlet and got stabbed to death. Wormtail was not murdered by Harry, though. When he came back into power, Voldemort had put some of his followers into the magical government system, similar to how Claudius watched Hamlet closely and had many people watching him while he acted like a
A huge mistake and momentous turning point caused by Hamlet is when he accidentally kills Polonius with the thought that he was actually stabbing Claudius. Not only does this alert Hamlet’s mother and Claudius that he is bloodthirsty, but it also enrages Laertes, Polonius’ son, and sends Ophelia, Polonius’ daughter, directly into depression. “Is it the king?” (Act III Scene IV) clearly tells his mother his lethal blows weren’t meant for Polonius, but for Claudius. Ophelia takes a plummet into delusional thinking and crazed actions.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Lord Voldemort murders many of the characters. The character, whose death I was most saddened to read about, is Professor Snape. In The Sorcerer’s Stone, Snape appears to be a rather evil character who dislikes the students. Upon reading The Prisoner of Azkaban, Snape’s character continues to be portrayed as a dark, evil-willed man who does not like Harry, or anyone else for that matter.
In “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows” Harry defeats Voldemort. I think that Harry survived the attack from Voldemort because Voldemort, he chose Harry’s blood to build his body which I think that Voldemort got to be shielded by Lily’s protection from the blood. I think that this killed Voldemort because Harry can’t die until Voldemort dies as Voldemort acted as a Horcrux for Harry. This is why I think that Harry was able to defeat Voldemort.
When he was one year old, the most evil wizard for hundreds and hundreds of years attempted to kill him. Lord Voldemort killed Harry’s parents, and then he tried to kill Harry. The villain tried to curse Harry, but for some mysterious reason the curse didn’t work on Harry. So he’s left with this lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead and the curse rebounded upon the evil wizard, who has been in hiding ever
Voldemort and his army killed everyone and nobody beat them. Even Harry's parents stood no chance against him. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry, he lost all his power. In the book it says, “No one knows why, or how,
Hamlet William Shakespeare wrote many great plays such as Romeo and Juliet, King Henry the 8th, and Hamlet, and many of his works still apply to the society in which we live in today. One in particular that still applies today is the play Hamlet. Hamlet is a Shakespearean tragedy, and is widely regarded as one of his best works. In today’s society Hamlet is one of the most popular plays in England, so there must be something about it that is still appealing to this generation even though the play is over five hundred years old.
In the second book we begin to gain an insight into Voldemort, as Harry, without realizing it,
Hamlet is thought to have gone mad over the death of his fath, Hamlet Sr. He is depressed over his father’s death and furious that his mother,Gertrude, married his uncle, Claudius, so soon after her husband’s death. He truly had fallen under serious grief, even contemplating suicide. It is not until he learns from his father’s ghost that his father had been poisoned by Claudius that this begins to change. Hamlet was plotting his uncle’s murder, something the majority of people would view as completely insane, but it is how he plotted this murder that makes it clear that he is not mad.
Hamlet is deeply hurt because his father died however, he is even more shocked by the fact that his mother married his uncle, Claudius. Indeed, the loyalty and love between parents and their children is a powerful force. Prince Hamlet sees and converses with the ghost/spirit of his father learning that the King of Denmark, Hamlet’s father, was killed by Claudius. Hamlet seeks revenge to avenge his father’s death, he starts to plot his plan into motion; for revenge is more powerful than everything else. Hamlet is not eager to kill his uncle thus he awaits until the mere end.
Among all the witches and wizards that Lord Voldemort had set his eyes on, Harry was the only one to manage to stay alive. At first, he had no idea about the magical world and his past. He used to live with his cruel Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and their spoiled son Dudley because Voldemort had murdered his parents, Lily and James Potter, when he was 1 year old. The Dursleys who were all muggles (non-magic) were ashamed of being related to a witch.
During the chapter The Servant of Lord Voldemort, Harry discovers that there is more to the story of his father’s friends than even his father knew. James Potter developed three close friendships during his time at Hogwarts. His friends were Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and Sirius Black otherwise known as Moony, Wormtail, and Padfoot for their animagus identities. James had such a special bond with his fellow students that they even developed Marauder’s Map together, a secret map that allowed the gang of friends to track the whereabouts of others in the Hogwarts castle, and he named Sirius to be Harry’s godfather. What James did not know is that one day one of these friends would play a role in his and Lily Potter’s deaths.
In the first book, you are informed that Voldemort kills Harry Potter’s parents, very powerful wizards, but doesn’t think to kill off Harry. Well, Voldemort actually placed part of his life in Harry, making it how Harry would have to die too if Voldemort were to die. Harry, being the protagonist of the stories, already has his antagonist picked out for him as an infant. Harry, being the product of two very powerful wizards, has standards he has to live up to already, but he is also idolized for being the only person to have lived after crossing Voldemort. Harry Potter meets these standards and then some, but inevitably has to take on Voldemort, who has been the root of all the evils Harry Potter has been fighting while in
Hamlet is possibly the most famous play written by William Shakespeare. This play was written around 1600 and first performed by Chamberlain’s Men in England (Mabillard, 2000). Hamlet is the longest play that Shakespeare ever wrote and known as arguably the best tragedy ever conceived. Hamlet is a tragedy that depicts how Prince Hamlet must seek revenge on his uncle, Claudius, after he murdered his father, King Hamlet, and stole the throne that rightfully belonged to the young prince. In today’s life, the themes and and echos of this play can be seen in multiple places.
The venom was spreading throughout the body. It would have killed Harry had it not been for Fawkes and his tears that had healing powers. Fawkes was a highly
(Rowling 367.) During his rise to power, Voldemort immersed himself in the Dark Arts and his unrelenting pursuit of immortality. He killed Harry’s parents, murdered unsuspecting Muggles, and turned Hogwarts into a nightmarish den of dark magic. Before his death in 1997, Voldemort was directly or indirectly responsible for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of deaths of both magical and non-magical
