Claudius, in Hamlet, kills his brother to become king. Mufasa and Old Hamlet were both murdered by their brothers. Both of their fathers reappear as ghosts. Simba’s father appeared to him in the stars, while Hamlet’s father appeared to him as a ghost. Both Simba and Hamlet are sent away to fight their uncles.
In this scene, Mufasa’s spirit persuades Simba to return to his homeland and rightly take the throne. The spirit fails to mention anything about Mufasa’s death or that Simba should murder his Uncle Scar. In Hamlet, a ghost of Hamlet’s father reaches out to him in order to inform Hamlet that his brother Claudius murdered him through poison. The purpose behind the ghost in Hamlet’s appearance was to convince Hamlet to avenge his father’s death and ensure that justice is served. The ghost explains to Hamlet how his father had died and attempted to persuade Hamlet to avenge his death (Hamlet 1.5 14-116).
The Lion King is a classic childrens movie made in 1994. The movie involves a king, Mufasa, the king's brother, Scar, and the king's son, Simba. Mufasa is killed by his brother, Scar, and Mufasa’s son is left to avenge his father’s death and bring things at the kingdom back to normal. With this classic childhood film there is an adult version, Hamlet. Hamlet is a play by William Shakespeare written between the years of 1600-1602.
There are many similarities and differences between some of literature’s most famous works. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare can be compared to Harper Lee’s, To Kill a Mockingbird. Both works are very well-known to most. There are obvious relationships between the two. Despite an obvious difference, that one is a play and one is a novel, they can be compared with their plot, literary devices and subjects.
‘The Lion King’ Power often shapes actions and behaviour of people in various ways. In the movie the ‘Lion king’ by Roger Allers, there is also tragedy caused by the lust for power. The ‘Lion King’ is a movie about a group of lions; Mufasa was the king. Scar is Mufasa’s wicked brother who always lusts to be the king; he did not attend Simba’s ceremony, who was his nephew.
Imagine a brother murdering his own brother. Sounds terrible, right? Unfortunately, it actually happened. A disabled boy who went by the name of Doodle was killed by his own older brother - someone who is supposed to be a lifelong protector and best friend. The evidence is undeniable.
In Shakespeare’s jam packed tragedy, Hamlet, Hamlet seeks justice for his father whom was slain by his own brother, Claudius. Hamlet defines justice as avenging his father’s death. His view on justice is seen as just an eye for eye type of ‘justice’. He learned that his father had been slain by his own family told by ‘King Hamlet’s Ghost’ and he’s ordered to go accomplish this
There are many productions of Hamlet, but the two most popular are the 2009 film featuring David Tennant and the 1996 film featuring Kenneth Branagh. Overall, I believe that Hamlet was portrayed better in the movie with Kenneth Branagh, rather than the movie featuring David Tennant. One of the most significant scenes of the play is Act V Scene 2, where Claudius dies. In the Kenneth Branagh film, the costumes in this scene are very fitting of the time period of when Hamlet was alive. The men were mostly wearing tight pants with trousers and patterned jackets, while the women were all wearing colorful, poofy dresses.
