CHAPTER I Introduction 1.1 Background of the Study Water and sanitation crisis is highly increasing in the Philippines and the individuals who are affected don’t have the solution to the problem. Lack of access to safe water and improved sanitation may result to a severe sickness or disease. According to Dr. Lee, Director-General of the World Health Organization, water and sanitation are the primary factors of health and needed to be secured. Several Filipinos don’t have access to clean water that leads their health at risk. Many products were introduced in the market as substitute to clean water but those products still bring detriments to people. The researchers are in collaboration to create a specific product that can be an alternative …show more content…
2.2 There is a significant benefit between the orange oil extract and calamansi oil extract. 2.3 There is a significant difference between the hand sanitizer with pure citric extract and commercialized hand sanitizer. 1.5 Scope and Limitations The study will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of the sanitizer after it was made. The ingredients, which are the main factors of the product, will be used according to its benefits and effects. Also, the researchers will highlight the procedures on how the hand sanitizer will be made and the components of each ingredients and materials will be discussed accordingly. The experimentation will take place inside the school’s property. A test will be conducted after the product was done by the researchers. The effectivity and feasibility of the hand sanitizer will be tested and evaluated through a specific method called Agar Plate Method. 1.6 Definition of terms Agar Plate - standard solid assisting material for developing microorganisms Cold-Pressing Method - a method in which a fruit or ingredient is being pressed and crushed in order to get the oil out from the …show more content…
Procedure 2.1 Remove the rind of the calamansi and orange fruit using a peeling tool then place into a clean container. 2.2 Using a pressing tool, squeeze the rind over a jar hardly. The liquid that will be squeezed out of the fruit peel contains oil. Take note that there is not a need to press the fruit peel so hard. Enough pressure is enough to get the oil. 2.3 Separate the oil from the liquid. Put the container containing the oil and the liquid in the freezer. The liquid will freeze and the oil will not. From that, get the oil and place in separate container. 2.4 Peel the Aloe Vera. Get the gel and place in a clean container. Crush the gel using either a spoon or fork until puree like mixture is achieved. Add water if needed. Put the gel in a container. 2.5 Get 1 teaspoon of calamansi essential oil and mix it with ¼ cup of Aloe Vera Gel. Stir until it mixed well. the use of alcohol based antibacterial gels and foams. The video presents research that shows that during standard precaution situations hand washing and the use of alcohol based antibacterial foams are equally effective in ridding the hands of bacteria. I also report in the video that it is during special situations such as infections with Clostridium Difficile (C. Dif.) or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) hand washing with warm soap and water is more effective in destroying bacteria then the use of alcohol based antibacterial foams. Through this research I was able to further understand the importance of hand washing as well as incorporate my research into my every day
Presently, health care practices are mainly based on evidence that is created through research. It is also clear that some sources are not as good as others. Using distinct knowledges and research, evidence-based practices are developed. With the PICOT question already identified, this paper will proceed to the research part. Hand hygiene is said to be the most operative answer to avoiding the development hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

The main reasons for developing a HCAI are poor hand hygiene by healthcare staff, medical device related infections such as intravenous lines and urinary catheters and the overuse or improper use antimicrobials. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone measure to prevent healthcare associated infection (HCAI) and it has been shown that MRSA is primarily transmitted from patient to patient via the hands of healthcare professionals (Donskey, 2009). Although hand hygiene is the simplest, most effective and most cost effective way to prevent the spread of HCAIs (Pratt et al. 2007) (Kilpatrick et al. 2013), adherence to hand hygiene among health care professionals remains low worldwide (WHO, 2009).
Introduction By the year 2025, the Philippines is believed to be brought to a water crisis if no new sources of water are developed or found to meet the growing demand of the citizens. (Sapnu, R., Balabo, D., & Cervantes, D., 2007) "There is a Japan International Cooperation Agency study that says that if we will not conserve water, there may be some problems. But of course we can always start conserving now and look for other sources," Lopez (2013) said. Studies have shown how water conservation and appropriate water utilization are significant as early as today.
