Thus, in my opinion, it would be used for so long, and will disappear with the generation that brought it up. Blé Blé literally translates as wheat in English, in French, it still means wheat but is also used as a slang and popular expression referring to money, he earns a lot of money can be translated as Il gagne beaucoup de blé. The origin of this term goes back to the time when the farmers needed to harvest wheat in order to sell it and make money, or pay taxes to the King, thus, the more wheat the farmers had, the richest they were. This explanation explains why today is it common for French to refer to blé when speaking of money. I don’t know when exactly it started to be popular, but I’ve heard it all my life, and still hear today people from all ages saying it. Because it has a logical and historical explanation, I would assume that this term will last for many years from today.

Saying the word for an African American today is like taking away all of the power from everyone else as opposed to allowing to still mean a racist term and affect them negatively. In conclusion, I believe this word that was once used to undermine and degrade many races, has now been empowered. During the Civil Rights Movement it was used in R&B, rap, and rock songs played by African Americans to take out the negativity and portray the emotions they felt about being suppressed and impairer.
After the Reconstruction of America, we entered into a time referred to as “The Gilded Age”. These companies were rising up and trying to completely eliminate all other companies that would compete against them, and ultimately, have a monopoly on the product or service. At the time, this wasn’t illegal, but people who were trying to rival these grandiose companies were enraged. The industrialists of the 19th/20th century were Robber Barons who used questionable practices to acquire their wealth. SLANG 3 The Effect of slang on the English language The records show slang was first used around the 16th Century, but this is not certain, as it more of a spoken language and so it could have been much earlier. At this time people created new words as the English vocabulary was a lot smaller than it is today and so people felt the need to invent new words to express themselves. Nowadays slang is used much more frequently, with the influence of technology having a great effect on the use of slang. Some people think it has a positive effect on the English language, while others think it is having a negative effect.
