The year was 1953 and it was a dull and heavy evening, it rained so much that cars drove slowly and carefully and no one came outside unless it was really important. On the corner of 5th and Vine Street, a small man in a soaked overcoat, wiped his glasses, trying to read the unclear note in his hands. Looking for the address on the note from building to building, the man finally found address that was on the note and stepped inside the building. Walking up the three floors of stairs, the man stopped in front of the office door for 303. On the glass window was written in large writing, “Wenders Publishing Company- Mr. Peter Wenders and Associates.” "This is my chance." thought the small man. "This is my chance to finally share my stories …show more content…
When he entered inside the office, the man introduced himself to the employee as Harris Burdick and explained that he had an appointment. The employee led Mr. Burdick down a long hallway to the large door that read, “Peter Wenders.” Inside an old man with a white beard smiled and introduced himself as Peter Wenders, children’s book publisher. The man had an eager to finally show his work, Harris Burdick introduced a large brown portfolio, from within it, Harris Burdick introduced fifteen beautifully illustrated pictures. Each picture was a hand‐drawn charcoal image. As Mr. Wenders reviewed the pictures his smile grew larger and larger with every new image. Mr. Wenders firmly shook Mr. Burdick’s hand and had an urge to see the stories that go along with these phenomenal works of art. He was excited he had a publishing deal so Mr. Burdick promised to return tomorrow with the fifteen stories and would then be able do business with Mr. Wenders. Because of the amount of rain outside, Harris Burdick asked if Mr. Wenders could keep the images there and promised he would return to the office the next day, first thing in the morning. As morning of the next day approached, Mr. Burdick did not come. By the noon, the man didn't show up and the stories that go along with the charcoal drawings didn't
Hi Anecia, Your viewpoints on Benjamin Banneker exposed several of valuable details, one for example Banneker rhetorical strategy was effective yes, I agree with this statement about Banneker, in other words, he was letting Franklin Jefferson know that there were African Americans who possessed intelligence. Otherwise his ability to complete an almanac would be impossible. However, I find it hard to conceive that out of all the hundreds and hundreds of slave Jefferson purchased and kept in slavery until his death; not one indicated traits of intelligence. Therefore can one assume that Jefferson’s letter written true purpose was to keep slavery going because of his economic status was at the state or to introduce the negativity of a race

Although he is not under “tyrannical thralldom” or “inhuman captivity,” Banneker has brethren who are.
Brian Bosworth was a standout football player at Oklahoma, supposedly the next Dick Butkus. He was a three-time first team All American, two time Butkus award winner along with being a two-time Academic All-American. Bosworth led his team to three straight Orange Bowl appearances, and played in National Championships, winning one in 1985. ( Big12Sports, Big12sports.com) Bosworth was one of the most feared college football players to ever step on the field. He is debated as one of the best college football players ever with his nose for the football and the impact he made on every play, but debated as one of the biggest NFL draft busts ever.
There are occasions that cause for political activist to take a stand. Benjamin Banneker and Florence Kelley address social issues with slavery and child labor laws, while John F Kennedy discuss economic issues with private vs public interests. As American society attempts to alter their progress in social equality and economic balance, it has stumbled upon obstacles. Americans strive to achieve greatness, yet the abuse of power and wealth stands in the way.

Rutherford grew up in a house full of love and faith, which helped to smooth the rough times of growing up without a father, as well as losing two siblings. Rutherford earned the nickname “Rud” as he was growing up in Delaware, unable to play and socialize with other kids his age until he was seven years old due to his frail and unstable health in early years. With Rud couped up around the Hayes household for many of his early years,

The topic of the essay is Art Spiegelman’s Maus and my main aim is to try to convey and discuss the thematic aspects of the work in combination with its influence upon the studies regarding the Shoah. The essay opens with an extremely brief and general introduction about the birth of the graphic novel in the U.S., and follows with a summary of Art Spiegelman’s biography. After giving a description of Spiegelman’s masterpiece, I will focus on the so called issue of post-memory and on its repercussion on the peculiar relationship between father and son represented in this comic book.
“The screen is a magic medium. It has such power that it can convey emotions and moods that no other art form can hope to tackle.” The written word and the moving image have always had their entwining roots deeply entrenched in similar narrative codes, both functioning at the level of implication, connotation and referentiality. But ever since the advent of cinema, they have been pitted against each other over formal and cultural peculiarities – hence engaging in a relationship deemed “overtly compatible, secretly hostile” (Bluestone 2).
William James Bosket shot and killed Noel Perez on March 19, 1978 at the ripe age of 15. A week later he shot and killed yet another man, Moises Perez, in an attempted robbery and finally shot and killed a New York Transit employee in between the two previous murders. He was tried in New York’s family court and pled guilty, receiving the maximum sentence of five years in a youth facility. Because of this short sentence the Governor called in a special session of the state legislature and passed the Juvenile Offender Act of 1978. Children, as young as thirteen years old, could be tried as an adult for crimes such as murder.
Money may be a figure to most but when an open opportunity is handed to you what would you do? A simple eight-hour shift may consist of taking orders, satisfying customers’ needs, having to over-look a group of associates, in addition to satisfying a customer one on one: having to appease indecisive customers with the struggle of the two different aspects of buying one based on spending budget and another on personal style. There is more than what meets the eye when it come to purchasing high end bags such as Kate Spade and Tory Burch. When shopping for a high-end bag one does not have an endless pocketbook or the luxury of purchasing on the whim. Most women save up weeks or months to buy that special bag.
Introduction Implicit in the question “Stock libraries destroy the livelihood of photographers”, is a reference to both commercial and academic consideration. In order to answer the question therefore, it is necessary to understand the possibilities of the image in the context of general market conditions, then to understand the specific market for images in today’s market terms. This essay’s secondary research methodology has its basis for reference in Paul Frosh’s Image Factory, principally sections of the book centred around the services of stock agencies as suppliers of images predominantly to advertising agencies and marketing departments as a focal point in order to understanding the current market for stock photographs. The essay
