INTRODUCTION
Office-based work is one of the fastest growing forms of employment nowadays and as a result, the health and safety aspects and practices need to keep pace with the rapid changes. The health and safety of employees is a very significant issue to consider with relation to the attainment of organizational goals. Health and safety policies as well as programs are concerned with protecting employees and other people affected by an organisation’s activities, products and services against hazards. The issue of health and safety management has become more pressing than ever with the increasing industrialization accidents as well as the exposure to dangerous chemicals with their accompanying health implications for employees

Employees often forgot that one of the factor to ensure their productivity at workplace include the safety of workplace and its environment. The issues had been discussed widely because of the careless employees and after so many injuries, incidents and accidents had occurred. The oil and gas industries, however, was also not spared from this issue where most of the accidents had occurred. Organization that prioritize the aspect of health and safety among its employees believes that it can reduce the risk of employees from getting any injuries and also the cost of the healthcare service that helped to motivate the employees to achieve higher performance and to perform work efficiently in a safety manner. Therefore, at the end of it, it comes down to having a sense that everyone is working toward a common goal – a safe workplace (Donald, 2007).
Occupational health professionals are important for promotion of health in the workplace. The management such as health educators, safety officers and physicians play an important role to promote health in the workstation and should be given training accordingly. Specialist of occupational health in a workplace is responsible to maintain the safety and health of workers and should carefully assessing the work site for potential hazards to avoid serious harm and reducing or preventing the risk

These questionnaires were distributed by hand or personally to all workers at the organization. In order to clarify the purpose of this study, a cover letter was also attached together with the set of questionnaires. For this study, 100 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents at PrimeSourcing International Sdn. Bhd. All the 100 questionnaires were distributed to all employees from different level of management, departments and units. The respondents also were given one week to answer the questionnaires. Several follow up calls will be made to the respondents before the completed questionnaires were being
Reflective Journal entry Unit 4 In today’s society, one of the primary objectives is to ensure that staffs working in the various department of the health sector have maximum protection, inclusive of the environment in which they live dwell and play. Therefore, adequate measures must be implemented to extenuated environmental and occupational hazards. The occupational and environmental health takes a multidisciplinary approach as it relates to the correct identification of diseases from exposure hazardous agents in the community of in the workplace.

7 / D.P7: Explain how different procedures maintain health and safety in a selected health or social care setting Maintaining health and safety in health and social care is extremely important to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all their service users as well as other individuals service providers may come in contact with in the setting. There are several procedures that help to maintain this health and safety however they can all vary between settings for example, health and safety procedures will be slightly different and more focused on certain areas in hospitals and especially in paediatric ward compared to in drop-in centres where the needs and risk to service users are slightly different. Some of the procedures used in health and social care to maintain health and safety include; infection control and prevention, safe moving and handling of equipment and individuals, food preparation and storage, storage and administration of medication and storage and disposal of hazardous substances.

Unit F84T 34 Procedure In order to construct this report, I read the case study and highlighted information that I thought was relevant to this report.
Task 2 7 / C.P6: Compare the influence of different health and safety laws or policies on health and social care practice in a selected setting There are several different health and safety laws and policies that vary between settings in health and social care aimed towards different legislations that must be followed, and have resulted in improvements in health and social care practice. It is important that these legislations are followed by service providers in order for them to promote safe practice and to fully understand their responsibilities under these legislations. Some of the legislations include the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Care Act 2014, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2010.
Failing in service-user safety can sometimes be attributed to communication failure, however communication is one of the most important tools in preventing such failures. The ability to communicate effectively as a team stems from understanding the various professions in the team (Gluyas & Morrison, 2013). Understanding the various roles allows for an insight into how the healthcare system links together and the part each roles plays in provision of care. Additionally it aides in building trust and respect amongst team members (Gluyas & Morrison, 2013). This in turn can be linked to improved service-user safety, because it allows for role relation and see their part in the service-user care pathway.
The responsibilities of an employer and employee under health and safety legislation, was founded in 1974. Act 1974 is a law made to secure the health, safety, wellbeing of people at work and to prevent unnecessary risks. An employer’s responsibilities under health and safety legislation, requires the employer to be responsible for the health and safety of any person in their premises, which includes employees, customers, suppliers and the public. Employers should hire a certified person in charge of health and safety, however in small businesses that person is usually the owner or a trusted member of staff.
Health and safety at work act 1947 The health and safety at work is the legislation, which covers the employees’ health and safety in the UK. The law requires a high level of management that employers must follow, they must look at risks and assess them and take a sensible measure to prevent these risks from happening. This policy and procedures is for Risk assessments and the fire policy/procedure. This promotes safety because care organisations have to make sure that they are able to provided a safe environment in a health and social care setting.
Unsafe work practice that can affect the well-being of individuals include: Rough handling, for example pushing, pulling, dragging. Unsafe administration of medication, for example, failure to check dosage. Ignoring health needs and social needs such as clean clothing and personal hygiene. Visible injuries or marks of abuse on body and complaints not taken seriously can put them at more danger, harm and risk of abuse. I will ensure that I keep to all the procedures for checking for abuse and the wellbeing of the individuals that I work with; by following these and the individual’s care plan I keep within the minimum standards of care and also work in a person centred way to make sure all individuals are happy and safe.
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 These Act inform practices that all staff the responsibility to keep themselves and other around them safe through their actions at work and they must to report any health and safety problems. Also, all staff must to follow policies and procedure when hand handing equipment and they should to work in way that puts other around them in danger. Control of substances and Hazardous to Health Regulations 1992 These regulations inform practices that cleaning materials must to be kept in a locked cupboard. Also, these regulation state that disposable gloves and aprons must to be provided for cleaning and handing chemicals.
It contains six elements, to include management leadership and employee participation, workplace analysis, accident and record analysis, hazard prevention and control, emergency response, and safety and health training (Program, 1996). After evaluating each of these factors, a work center is given a score to reflect which areas are compliant, and which areas are non-compliant and require action to ensure proper health and safety (Program, 1996). Introduction There are many factors which shape health and safety at work and safety culture is one of them. The purpose of this paper is to explore that factors surround safety culture in an organization. Safety culture can be define as internal and external factors which may impact an organisation negatively or positively. THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH AND SAFETY IN MINING INDUSTRY Health and safety in the organisation is very important because it helps the employers and employees to reduce accidents, injuries, illness and deaths. M.A. Hermanus (2007) states that injuries and illness have a big social and complications for people, their families and their society. They also have monetary impacts as explicit and implied expenses for society in general. HEALTH AND SAFETY The importance of health and safety in the mining is to make sure that the workers are safe.

It involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling all the resources needed to produce a company’s goods and services. Because operations management is a management function, it involves managing people, equipment, technology, information, and all the other resources needed in the production of goods and services. Operations management is the central core function of every company.
