3. CONCEPT OF PUBLIC HEALTH EVALUATION Public Health evaluation is the process of monitoring health care programs from planning phase to the execution of the program. Evaluation is the process of examining the worth of an object. Evaluation is done in public health to determine the progress of health program objectives and goals. Public health evaluations are important information that serves as a database in nursing diagnoses and also community nursing diagnoses from the assessment data that was analyzed, for any program in public health to be relevant; health program must be evaluated regularly.
The main role of the public health nurse is to provide the best evidence based quality of care to the client and his/her family in order to encourage independence and well-being. This in turn will help improve the client’s quality of life throughout the disease progression. Within the community the public health nurse must assess individual needs, plan care, implement care by liaising with the primary care team and evaluate the care provided.
