The physical intervention is beneficial for the restoration of physical strength as it includes the appropriate exercise and therapies for the movement of joints. Through this course I have learned that history taking and performing a physical assessment and being able to differentiate normal from abnormal findings is one of the most important roles of a health care provider. If an accurate physical assessment is not performed, whether for baseline data or when the patient’s condition changes, then the patient is not receiving the level of competent care he deserves. The human body is a machine with a very complicated working mechanism. For a human being to be productive, his body should be in good shape and health. Therefore, health is a major determinant factor in our resourcefulness. All human beings are entitled to good healthcare. In a general perspective, healthcare is all about maintaining one’s health and improving the health of deteriorating bodies.
Prior to completing the wellness self-assessment tool, I desired to work on the physical dimension of my life. When I was younger I used to be extremely active. In the past 6-8 years however, my physical activity level has decreased significantly, to the point where it could be considered non-existent. After completing the self-assessment, it was more evident to me that this was an area I needed to improve on. I am not surprised that both the physical and play dimensions of my wellness are weighted the lowest (see below).
