Final Reflection The health fair project was an overall success to me. Everyone’s board was coordinated with their topic, but with our topic the people the came in to look at them tended to want to leave as fast as possible, since STD’s can be an awkward topic. It was an interesting experience to talk about STD’s. From original idea of getting help around the Quad Cities with sickness because it was going to getting colder out. Where we are more prone to be getting sick. After a few days of research, we struggled getting the right information, so we refined our research. When spending time brainstorming, we ended up with STD, which can be a common issue in universities. Another challenge we faced was communication simply because the method we were using was emailing and can be a slow process depending on how frequent people check their emails. I know I tend to skim my emails and some get lost. Amongst the communication, we had technical issues trying to get our brochure to print properly. We spent so much time messing with the format and the printer that it caused us more time that was unnecessary. …show more content…
People tend to think that they are fine because they do not feeling anything different and that people are tend to be stubborn and ignore what is healthy for them in the long run. I remember learning about STD’s in middle school and going over it again was a refresher. It is also something I believe that should be taught later on when they are older. When they taught it in middle school, I do not think we were mature enough to understand the importance of it at the
Then see if you can apply them to an issue in your own life or in the life of someone you know. Healthy People 2020 are a collaboration between local, state, and federal organizations dedicated to improving the social and physical environment of communities. These organizations recognize that there are many aspects of our social and physical environment that can directly influence the quality of one’s health. As a result, Healthy People 2020 has implemented a ten year plan whose primary goal is to improve the overall health of communities across America and therefore, build a healthier society.
Healthy People 2020 The purpose of this paper is to talk about the health of my community. Throughout the paper, I will state long-term and short-term goals for two nursing diagnoses related to cardiovascular disease and lung cancer, as well as nursing interventions in an attempt to help improve the outcomes of cardiovascular disease and lung cancer in my community. Furthermore, I will talk about goals of Healthy People 2020. The summary of the above-mentioned diagnoses will conclude this paper.
A society in which all people live long, healthy lives is the vision that Healthy People 2020 has set for themselves. Healthy People 2020 was developed under the leadership of the Federal Interagency Workgroup (FIW). Healthy People 2020 is the framework of an exhaustive collaborative process among the U.S. Department of Health and Human services (HHS) and other federal agencies, public stakeholders, and the advisory committee. Healthy People 2020 provides specific and important areas of emphasis where action must take place in the United States to achieve better health by the year 2020.

1.1 Identify the regulatory requirements, codes of practice and relevant guidance for managing concerns and complaints in own area of work. The Local Complaint Stage (1) Immediately after hearing of a complaint, contact the complainant to determine where their issues lie and what they would like to see as a result of the investigation. It is important that the local manager • Demonstrates a caring attitude and shows that there is a genuine attempt to understand the problem. • Ensures the complainant is aware of the complaint process and timelines • Provides the complainant with their contact name and telephone number • Obtains all complaint details at this point of contact to avoid the customer having to repeat themselves
distorted picture of how to treat the opposite sex and safer sex practices are deficient. To change sexual behaviors, parents must communicate clearly to their children from a young age about respecting their bodies and when the times comes parents must also listen attentively making sure no outside pressures are persuading them otherwise. Young adults are more impressionable and therefore vulnerable to experiment sexually and many do not feel comfortable talking to their parents so they turn to peers or a search engine for sexual knowledge, which can be misleading. The increase of chlamydia cases could be caused by a number of culprits.
I have been asked to write about what the lunch menu should be at my school. I can chose between a new and improved healthy lunch menu or stick with the normal everyday cafeteria menu that the students love. Currently, I'm not sure where I stand. Do I think and want a new menu that will benefit me? Or do I want to keep the others happy and stick with what they love?
In my site there are many people with jobs that contribute in achieving their goal of wanting to provide health opportunities to those that do not. My department which is administration is in charge or organizing events. In specific my mentor is the administrative coordinator of the Urban Health Institute where she organizing events to help spread out to both the students and communities health awareness. We also work with many other people such as the director of the Urban Health Institute. But not only those in the Urban Health Institute help there 's people from other departments that help us or ask us how they could help.
Sue Alford describes the Sex Ed curriculum as: “Teaches about abstinence as the best method for avoiding STDs and unintended pregnancy, but also teaches about condoms and contraception… It also helps young people explore their own values, goals, and options” (3). The Sex Ed curriculum understands that abstinence is the best way to prevent STD and pregnancy rates, but they are also understanding that not everyone will wait until marriage to become sexually active. Because of this, they make sure they provide information that could benefit everyone. Although Sex Ed includes information regarding all aspects of sex, Abstinence Only Programs are a different story.
Here are some statistics that Kohler and colleagues examined from responses of 1,719 teens ages 15 to 19 that participated in a National Center of Health Statistics survey in 2002. About two thirds of the teens had comprehensive sex education a quarter of them had abstinence-only education and only nine percent reported no sex education. The teens that had comprehensive sex education were 50 percent less likely to report becoming pregnant or impregnating someone then the teens that were taught abstinence-only sex education. This means if your son or daughter do not learn about how to have safe sex or about the dangers of STDs and HIV then they are 50 percent more likely to have an unwanted
Kids today are learning about sex earlier and earlier. The biggest problem is: much of the information they're getting is wrong. I cannot begin to tell you the incorrect and sometimes crazy things I've heard from my friends about sex, and much of this was when I was in college. That's why it's important for parents to talk to their kids about safe sex. That way, they get correct information from a reliable source.
They get taught what are the cures and their are some that aren't curable. They would know how to avoid catching stds. There are studies showing that 110 million people catch an std in their lives at least once .And 50 percent of those 110 million are teens from the ages 15 to 24 ,knowing about these things can help them prevent it.
Today I was asked to help at a wellness fair promoting healthy eating to patients and their family. The fair was designed to educate and engage patients on the importance of eating healthy and learning proper portion size methods. Throughout the hair, many patient families attended and was very engaged. Many people were surprise at how much they are eating and was not aware of it until the proper serving size was presented and demonstrated by nutritionist. The nutritionist stressed the importance of vitamins and minerals out body need, and that we should try to consume them on the daily.
Sexual education is one of many topics teenagers rarely know about due to lack of discussion at schools. Because of the lack of discussion within schools, teens become ignorant about protection, STDs, and teen pregnancy. A majority of teenagers make mistakes such as having unsafe sex as a result from being naïve about the topic. That is why it is important for schools to teach adolescents about sex. Teens partaking in sexual behavior can possibly receive or transfer sexually transmitted diseases or in some cases become pregnant.
This allows for an open and understandable research; in which it is highly
