ES) Healthy children are born from healthy, respected, well-nourished and educated mothers and it is imperative that they have a voice in the decisions which affect them. If you empower a mother and let her have her say towards a poverty free future, the positive impact this would have on ending hunger will be immense. Children are the wealth of the country. Special attention should be paid to meet the needs of children. The data was collected from 21,485 children, 8840 (3566 boys and 5274 girls) from government school and 12,645 (6197 boys, 6448 girls) from private schools. Children were classified as normal, overweight, and obese as per IOTF guidelines. Height, weight and BMI percentile charts specific for the socioeconomic status were generated using LMS method. The result shows that a significant difference was noted in height, weight, and body mass index between low socioeconomic status and upper socioeconomic status. The prevalence of overweight obesity in upper socioeconomic status children was 16.75% and 5.59% in boys, and 19.01% and 5.03% in girls. The study concluded that there was significant disparity in anthropometric parameters between children from upper socioeconomic status and lower economic status with a high prevalence of overweight and obesity in upper socioeconomic status
