An unknown author once said, “All the hard work, all the sacrifices, all the sleepless nights, struggles, downfalls, it all pays off.” When the author said this quote, they meant that if you have a goal in life and you are trying to catch your dream. Your hardwork will pay off if you work for it. Never give up even if you are struggling it will pay off. In the book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, he shows that Billy is very hardworking. Billy’s lack of giving up helps him stay determined.
One thing that was exciting and very interesting for me was learning about the Boston Massacre in Social Studies. Most people think of it as a minor event (which I did too until I learned all about it) in which a few people were killed, but it is much more than that, as I found out when my class went into a lot of depth to investigate the mysterious Boston Massacre.
When it comes to banning a book, many different criteria have to be met. With books in high school, it can be very controversial with parents as to which books need to be banned. In Schools, books are banned from things like foul language, sexual content, of just speaking about things parents or the school board may not like. In this book Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli, it is being banned because it is a story about a little Jewish boy and how it was during the Holocaust. Dean Schneider on Bookpage.com says, “Underlying this story of war and the Holocaust is a young boy’s search for a name and something to believe in.” Along with this book and multiple others out there, even though the books may not want and enjoy these “awful” things, sometimes
The reason why I want to be part of the National English Honor Society is because English is my favorite subject. Since I was young, I have always been the reader in my family and it has always been one of my best subjects in school. Ever since I was young, I have always been the reader in my family. Reading has been my escape from the stress of school and work and is an outlet for me to relax. I often imagine myself as the character of the stories and try to figure out what I would do if I was the character in real life. It is because of reading that it helped develop my interest in writing and journaling, which is enjoyable for me. Just like reading, writing is a great way for me to unwind. I love to write about topics I’m passionate about
AZUCUS Ranch is a ranch in Vicksburg, MS where I ride horses. I have been riding there for many years, ever since I could walk. There are other riders there that have been there as long as I have. There are also some riders that have just started riding there. When the riders get done riding, it is their duty to take care of their horse, meaning they have to untack their horse, wash them off, put them in either a pasture or a stall, then depending on where they put them, they must feed them. Most people at the ranch actually take care of their horses in the way in which they are supposed to, other riders, however, expect other people to take care of their horse for them. The horse riders at AZUCUS Ranch can be divided into three groups according
These days, numerous natural grass turf varieties are available in the market; however, none can compete against Sir Walter Buffalo turf when it comes to withstanding the harsh weather of Australia. Sir Walter Buffalo turf can endure the hot Australian climate and still blossom with soft, green and healthy grass. Sir Walter Buffalo turf is an ideal turf for property owners in Australia. In fact, it is the number one turf in Australia.
The concept that made the biggest impact on the way I see the world was the Chesapeake Bay unit in my 7th grade science class. I chose this because it taught me how incredibly damaged our world is. Every creature on earth affects us one way or another and they can help us in the long run. Also, that unit taught me how much littering hurts the world
There has been an oil scam near the Black Vine Swamp. The Red Diamond Energy Corporation (REDC) is an oil company. They're trying to find as much oil as they can without pumping the oil out of the ground. The government would pay them not to pump the oil. A man named Drake McBride is the head of the RDEC. He’s trying to make money off of a business, but it never works out. His next one is an oil company. He hires a man named Jimmy Lee Bayliss to find some oil for his company. Bayliss buys a 640 acres in the Everglades near the Black Vine Swamp. They owned section 21 next to section 22 which is owned by the state. McBride and Bayliss were hoping to get lots of oil out of it but they barely got enough oil to fill a “goldfish tank.” Bayliss has heard that there is a whole lot of oil in section 22 and “that's how the Section 22 scam had been born.”
In the novel Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli, the greatest threat the Jews forced to survival life in the ghetto is both the lack of food and Nazi soldiers. Nowadays, threats don't look like Nazi soldiers they look like cats and dogs and fighting. For example, Nazi soldiers “are going to forced people into the camps by deportations. They are going to get rid of all of you.” (p.169) Uri tells Misha. In other words it means that they might separate them from their families, so they won't see each other again. The family is going to have hard time without each other in their new relocation. It matters because mostly everybody is thinking about where are they moving instead of thinking where the family is going to separate from each other, and that
Reading American Scholar and Civil Disobedience, stuck out to me the most. By going in depth with reading American Scholar and Civil disobedience I slowly developed my skill in reading older pieces of text, and truly understanding what they mean. Initially reading them was really rough as I was limited in my understanding of the purpose of the text, and the rhetorical devices that were embedded within them. As I learned that teamwork was quite important in situations like this, as my table mates and I had to exchange ideas and different standpoints with each other to decipher the text and learn the author 's true message. Before I was stubborn to use my table mates for help because I considered myself a fairly independent person, however I
I also learn a lot about how most authors include many details in their text. It is important because when including many details in the text it can
I am going to write about the life of Anne Frank. A young girl who has passed through a lot of hard times and death. It is an interesting story to see how this young girl was able to manage such a great time of persecution. It is also interesting
