1.0 Background
Recently, travel has come to play a very important role in the lives of people. The term of tourism have state from the mid-1980s and become the world largest industry. Successful tourism is not simply a matter of having a better transportation and hotels but of adding a particular national flavor in keeping with traditional ways of life and projecting a favorable image of the benefits to tourists in term of goods and services.
The World Tourism Organization (WTO) has recognized the heritage and culture have become a component in almost 40 percent of all international undertaken. The WTO defines heritage tourism as ‘an immersion in the natural history, human heritage, arts, philosophy and institutions of another region or

2008). Heritage includes both past and present generation who pursue learning and adoring the lively and glorious history and culture as well as the past civilization (Chien). Tourism can be interpreted as the communicational setting or a space to narrate events in order to become familiar or in other words closer to them (Ateljevic & Doorne, 2003). In addition, Museums are often seen as a stage for social, cognitive and environmental education, and are a ‘behavior’ and ‘social’ setting; they tend to offer many service transactions and personal encounters (Chan & Yeoh, 2007). Moreover, museum experiences are a complex combination of factors which shape the feelings and attitude of visitors towards their visit and include issues of perception and subjective experience as reflected in the museum practices. This article defines museum experiences based on Otto and Ritchie (1996, p. 166) as “the subjective mental state felt by participants during a service encounter;” and “a steady flow of fantasies, feelings, and fun” (Holbrook & Hirschman 1982, p. 132). Simply put, the range of museum experiences gained is similar to heritage experiences which “may include feelings of fun and enjoyment, escape from routine, sharing valued time with family or friends or learning,” and the experiential gained is the “result of encountering, undergoing, or …show more content…
A museum is an amalgam of a series of experience encounters (tangible and intangible) and museum experiences are derived from both service providers (quality of performance) and visitors themselves (quality of experience) (Chan &Yeoh, 2010). The Museum literature records an increasing need to focus on and understand visitors’ expectations and experiences of visiting a museum. Indeed, most museums are facing an increase pressure to attract wider audiences in order to overcome budget reductions from respective governments (Goulding, 2000). In addition, Rowley (1999) also points out the importance of re-assessing the customer experiences in museums. This is because of the government policy to encourage museums to be more commercial and to attract more visitors. This means that the roles and the core functions of museums have expanded from being collectors, preserves and conservers of cultural history, history and disseminators of information to marketing in terms of attracting more visitors (Chan

In this article, Dorothy Lippert, a Native American, covers the complex dynamic between Native Americans and museum collections, more specifically the archeologists that recover and archive the so called artifacts. This complex relationship between the artifacts, with the scientific importance and ability to educate, and the cultural importance of the artifacts to native peoples is one that is forever changing. Curators are in charge of putting together exhibits, but as Mrs. Lippert examines, the archaeologists that collect and find these artifacts have a unique relationship with these items. This relationship is unique because once archaeologists have control of an item, they decide what the item will be called, how they will classify the
Just seeing it whet my appetite for the museum itself. The Museum 's Wyeth
The purpose may be to inform, to challenge, to persuade, to argue or all of these. ‘Museums are not representations of the Other, but can be read as referential indices of the Self’ (p. 365). Museum is a representation of how one interprets the other. The maker of the display has made choices and exercised
For people, especially younger children, a way to feel a strong connection to the past is through objects that representation of that time in history. For example, after my grandmother passed away, I received one of her many rosaries, allowing me to remember our bond and the influence she had in my life every time I hold her heirloom. In today’s world, one of the only places in which a person is able to see historic artifacts and feel the connection to the piece of history that it represents is a museum. With the vast amounts of electronics available to the public, people, especially of a younger age, find less time to visit a museum and to learn about their heritage. The results of nationwide poll conducted as a part of the survey of public participation in the arts shows that “21% of adults in 2013 visited” an museum, which is drastically lower than previous nears and is predicted to continuously drop
Now that I have seen some of the exhibits and parts of the tour, my feelings are slightly more
At the beginning, we were kind of disappointed when the ticket seller told us that a half of the exhibit was currently closed. Because we did not see anyone come to us as a tour guide, we decided to discover everything here by ourselves and latterly found it very interesting even though it was our first
Attending the Civil Right Museum was a very enjoyable experience. The staff at the museum was very helpful, courteous, and offered a lot of insight about the exhibits. I could tell that they were educated about the issues of oppression that African American faced. The exhibit were very detailed, such as the sculpture were life like and the audio and visual displays seemed to almost take you back to those times, so attending these types of museums is often a very emotional experience for me. This museum in particular was hard for me to be in because Martin Luther King was actually killed there, so I felt overwhelmed at that thought and did not even view the room he was in prior to his death nor did I go into the room were the shots were fired that took his life.
The environment of the Museum creatively stands out as an amazing place to learn. The Museum has the capability to inspire people to tour the Museum open-mindedly, taking in the realistic 3D versions of Florida’s history. The Museum is “inspiring people
Response paper #1 Recently I took a tour of the James E. Lewis Museum of art located in Baltimore, MD. This museum is a part of Morgan State University fine arts building. As I walked into the museum I notice the beautiful entrance that consist of sculptures of very important people in history. In addition I was amazed by the infrastructure of the museum and the setup of the lighting in the museum.
Overall, the absence of labels hindered my ability to engage in cultural tourism as I lacked an understanding of the art’s cultural
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum showcases Mrs. Gardner 's collection to the public in greater Boston area. Each room functions as a pilgrimage, as one travels through various countries and time periods ending at the chapel and subsequently the Gothic room. In this paper, I will examine the Gothic room 's theme in relation to the placement of its objects. I will also evaluate the room 's strengths and challenges in serving the public, and how the practices employed in this room fit into the context of accessibility for the entire museum.
As the worldwide proliferation of museum buildings and the ever more congested calendar of international biennales and triennales testify (let alone private art galleries and art fairs), contemporary art is now a key sector of the leisure industry and a powerful force in urban and national

Personal Statement I would like to confirm that it is my motivating of Chinese culture that ignited my passion for cultural and creative industry. As a Tourism Management major student, I was able to explore the Chinese diversified cultures and landscapes, which offered me an insightful understanding of the Chinese cultural development. Under the guidance of commercialization, some cultural heritages have developed into huge tourism souvenir markets full of counterfeit and shoddy products. The over-commercialization reveals the fact that the Chinese culture is facing a severe situation. The country calls for a better cultural development strategy, which cultural and creative industry can offer.
