Álvar Núñez Cabeza De Vaca Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was a spanish explorer from the New World and was an early explorer and first historian of Texas who was born in Jeréz de la Frontera, Spain in 1490 and died in 1559 in his early career he was in the military. In 1527 he was part of an expedition led by Panfilo de Narváez in an attempt to claim the territory from Florida to Mexico for Spain that reached what is now Tampa Bay, Florida, they set out with around 600 men and set out in June in 1528 and only four people survived and Cabeza De Vaca was one of them. Cabeza de vaca traveled for eight years across the southeast US he became a faith healer to some Native Americans as well as a trader. His name means ‘’cow head’’ in spanish

He became the first Governor of Puerto Rico by appointment of the Spanish crown. He led the first known European expedition to La Florida, which he named during his first voyage to the area in 1513. Jaime Escalante was born on December 31, 1930, his legal name is Jaime Alfonso Escalante Gutierrez. Escalante was raised around teachers who are his family members. I’ll be talking more about Jaime’s Escalante’s childhood. Also about his different careers and what he does now.

1) The Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro belongs to murder and violence and does not belong to arts, and his expeditions prove that. 2) Francisco Pizarro who conquered the Inca was a violence supporter, and his aim was the wealth and power, as a result of that he was killed in a violence way by his people. That prove that every human being behind his favor. 3) Francisco Pizarro creates a new type of art, the art of invasion of the Inca Empire.

Preston Lipscomb 5/22/17 Hernan Cortes Hernan Cortes was a Spanish conqueror. He was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain. He died on December 2, 1547. He invaded Mexico in 1519, and he conquered the Aztec Empire in 1521. His parents’ names were Martin Cortez and Catalina Pizarro Altamirano.

In Central America, some parents leave their children, and set out a journey to the United States in hopes of making a better life for them. Throughout the years, the children who are left behind eventually go on a journey to be reunited with their family. On the journey, the children acquire many character traits and skills that ultimately make them grow as a person. In the book by Sonia Nazario titled Enrique’s Journey, author Nazario writes about Enrique, a young Honduran boy, who goes on a long and strenuous trip to find his mother. In the article “Desperate Voyagers,” by Ioan Grillo, it talks on the subject of children fleeing their country due to gang violence.

Miguel Piñero believes that if any person were to die, they should be buried in the place where they became who they were. Piñero implies that the place where the most obstacles were overcome is the place that should be called “home.” According to lines 29-31, the speaker says, “A thief, a junkie I’ve been committed every known sin Jews and Gentiles..” (Piñero). In 1963, Piñero committed a burglary and went to prison.

One day Esmeralda and her family decided to go for vacation to Spain. They wanted to visit many places and enjoy their trip. When Esmeralda visited El Escorial, she totally loved it. She became very interested in the history behind it. Until one day, Uncle Alberto her fathers friend who is a tour guide took her to visit the Escorial to learn about the history behind it.

The Acceso activity that initially inspired me was the excerpts we read from the testimony of Rigoberta Menchú. I was interested in Menchú’s feminism and also the role of the church in Guatemala. Then I remembered briefly learning about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz from México last year in my Spanish class. After researching her a little more I became interested in the power dynamic of the church in México and how Sor Juana contradicted it not only as a woman but as a writer.

May 18, 1539 I got recruited to start an expedition going to Florida with the leader of our expedition Hernando de Soto. Furthermore in the expedition, I didn’t have a clue about our general, I just knew his name. Then in the expedition I heard from a few other soldiers Hernando de Soto told everybody why our group of people is going on this journey. The purpose of this expedition is for us to find gold and silver. In the expedition the estimate of the number of us was about 600 of us.
