Helen Keller Hero

Hero is a noun that describes a person who is admired for great acts or fine traits (Merriam-Webster). This dictionary gives the following examples: “He has always been a hero to his son”. A second definition is a person, who is appreciated by many people for doing something brave (Oxford Learners Dictionary). She was capable of supporting and enlightening them although she was deaf and blind. Her inspiring qualities were determined in very recognizable means during her life. First, she was a determined woman because she didn't surrender through her learning process. In fact, Helen was disappointed at the beginning because of the fact that she didn't realize that each object had a word to represent, and define it. Helens first improvement was when she was only 7 years old. Anne was teaching Helen the word water by running cool water over Helens hand and made movements on her palm symbolizing the word. All of a sudden, Helen understood most of the things that Anne was teaching her. Through the process of learning, Helen showed great insistence. The second show of proof that her courage and bravery contribute to her as being a hero is the fact that she accomplished what was better for her and her education. She would move around the country, away from her family just to get the education she wished for. In 1904, Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe College at the age of 24, becoming the first deaf and blind person to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. Moreover, she was very inspiring as she got many awards for being an intelligent woman. Her actions indicate exactly how much can be accomplished through conviction in what is correct. She considerably affected the lives of all people by fighting to change the rules to equal rights on the buses and public facilities instead of just allowing it to continue. Moreover, she’s a brave and courage woman as she refused to give her seat to a white passenger in the bus. Apparently, she was arrested for breaking the Alabama Law that states that black people should give their seats to white people if the bus was full. Helen is a hardworking person as she lost her job through her heroic action of refusing to give her seat to a white man. But, she did not give up on her dream for African Americans to have equal rights. She founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development and stood up for African Americans rights and wanted the liberty and freedom for all people. Consequently, she fought for her rights and stood against racial discrimination that made her courageous and a determined woman. She inspired everyone to do what is best for everyone and impacted hundreds of other civil rights
