The Tottenham Asian superstar Son Heung- min has been a major influence to the game of soccer. Son has improved his skills over the years to help him reach his full potential at the widely known Tottenham Hotspur Futbol Club. Additionally, he is without a doubt, the biggest star on his South Korean National Team. Son “is very down to earth” as well as “optimistic” (Standard). He knows that if he works hard to keep contributing and giving quality time he will be even more successful and a more important key player. From a young age, Son was very focused on soccer and always pushed himself to be the best he could be. He also spent a lot of time focusing on his school career as he studied at Dongbuk High School. “[While studying at Dongbuk,] his progress [with the soccer team] was noticed by Hamburger scouts” (Football). Son went to play for the German team at just eighteen years old and “made his debut at Bundesliga in 2010” (Standard). “[However,] in 2013 he moved to Bayer Leverkusen for a club record [of] €10 million [to play] in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League” (Wiki). Son kept up his hard work and a couple years later “he signed [with] Tottenham for £22 million” (Wiki). Additionally, “his brilliant performance[s] contributed to his selection for the national team” (Football). Son has gone from the lesser known teams like Leverkusen and Hamburger to the well known Tottenham Hotspurs. Son has made a big name for himself as he is arguably one of the best players on the Hotspurs and became the “top Asian goal scorer” (Wiki). “You never know when your chance is coming. You always have to be ready and you have to always be there” (Standard). Furthermore, there aren’t that many Asian players in the Premier League as a majority of the players are from England. Most of the Asian players’ “parents [want] them to focus on education” (Independent). The leagues started to accept and welcome Asian players because they there was lots of unrecognized talent. Even though Asians were accepted to play in the league, not many did as they continued to focus on school. Son made a huge decision to risk going over to the UK to play soccer but ended up bringing his great talent, skills, and art to the beautiful
