It was a cold, frosty winter day on January 19th. The girls had decided to go for a drive to see the countryside. They were staying on the prettiest lake in the entire state of Michigan. The lake was a beautiful cool blue that matched the morning sky. It was early in the morning when the three girls entered the car to take a drive around. It was two stories with huge windows looking out onto the frosty blue lake. When they entered the house they first went and put their stuff into their rooms. There were two rooms on the first floor and one room on the second floor. The first night, as they were settling in, they decided to just watch movies and eat pizza, like a typical girly sleepover. Day two they took that beautiful ride through the countryside. They stopped at a local grocery store to find the items to make dinner that night. They had decided to make fettuccine chicken alfredo with a side of ciabatta bread. For dessert, they were gonna make Megan’s favorite dessert, chocolate chip skillet cookie. Everyone was super excited to get home and began cooking. They checked out at the store and realized they had been gone for about an hour. When they arrived at the car everyone could tell something was off with Emma. “Do you guys feel that?” Emma said kinda questioning if she even did
Once the Wisconsin Ice Sheet fully melted, the basic dimensions of the lake were fixed. However, the rocks we see today needed to rebound by about 170 m from the weight of the glacier ice. The last ice age gives Blackstone a surface area of about 5.2 km², a volume of 0.1 km³, a mean depth of just over 20 m, a perimeter of nearly 35 km.

Sarah said we could just have some bread and coffee, so we ordered. Our coffee arrived, but there was no bread. The waiter mumbled something, and we noticed a young woman ride off on her bicycle. After a while, she came walking the bike back up the hill with an unwrapped loaf of bread in her front basket. As she passed the window we were sitting at, the loaf of bread fell out of the basket onto the sidewalk.

In the short story “Greasy Lake” by T. Coraghessan Boyle, three boys embark on a journey to the greasy lake, where kids would go to perform illegal activities. At the time it was good to be bad, it was cool to drink and smoke. The unnamed narrator, Jeff, and Digby think that going to the greasy lake will make them look cool to society. The trouble begins when the boys pull a prank on a guy who they think is their friend but turned out to be a “bad greasy character.” The narrator thought he killed the bad character, but really he was just unconscious.
Fausto Cercignani once said, "A secret remains a secret until you make someone promise never to reveal it." In The Lake by Natasha Preston, two girls, Esme and Kayla, promise to keep a secret from when they are about 9 years old at an old summer camp. They accidently set fire to the woods around their camp and not only were the trees burned but so was a little girl and that little girl wants revenge. They head back to that same summer camp ten years later and the secret they promised never to speak a word about was revealed and it was torturing them and the rest of the camp. The girl, Lillian, was painting harsh messages on walls, leaving dead animals in the food hall, and messing with the trails.
First, the history of Devils Lake starts in prehistoric times. According to OnMilwaukee, an online news system, historians believe that during prehistoric times Devils Lake is now what it is because of glacial activity. Years ago, Devils Lake was surrounded in huge mountain ranges but through weathering and erosion has created the breathtaking bluffs and the large body of water there is today. One popular theory scientist have about Devils Lake is that years ago the Wisconsin River flowed through the gorge but the water became trapped between the glaciers. Over time the water trapped between the two glaciers became the well known lake.
We walked out of the house in silence and I ran back to grab the football I was playing with when I sat with Will earlier that day. We tossed the ball for a while. We mostly talked about my sister and how psycho she’d become. After a while, Mr. Warren rang the bell which meant it was time for dinner. Matthew and I walked over to his house and sat in the patio to eat.
We crossed the Rocky Mountains this morning. It took all day yesterday and we didn 't stop until 9 pm. We woke up at 4 am and hurried to eat and pack up. We have to take the Sublette to get to the Greenwood Cutoff for 45 miles.
She hurriedly escaped the awkward conversation and walked back into the bathroom and took out a crumbled piece of paper to write a note. She knew he would be here for another minute or two as she looked at his list and notices that it did not compare to what was in the cart. She wrote the note and then went to go find him. Just as he was leaving she dropped the note into one of the grocery bags. Julia is started to get excited again like she was twenty eight years old again.

The teacher, Ms. Price picks up a sweater and asks the class if anyone is missing a sweater. A student says that it's Rachel's, and the teacher gives her the sweater without even thinking. Rachel thinks and speaks in a way that is very reminiscent of an eleven year old. There is a youthful, innocent tone in her voice, especially when she says “I wish I was one hundred and two instead of eleven” without actually thinking about the disadvantages of being that age. Throughout the day, she references home and how she longs to go home to celebrate with her family and eat cake.
The fresh air smells like a mix of mucky water, and of hamburgers and hot dogs cooking on a grill outside. A calm breeze sweeps across the lake as soon as I step onto the dock. The view of Platte Lake is all around me when I jump on the rusty, old dock. Off to the side of the dock next to a tree sits an antique paddle boat. Old stickers cover the boat, but most have peeled off like paint chips off of an old fence.
Smooth, oval rocks lined the bank of the secretive lake. Discarded and neglected; overlaid with spongy moss and choked by fallen, decaying leaves from the unclothed and withering trees above. As the lake swelled around the ashen boulders, icy, black water lifelessly lapped against the long, thin beams of wood holding up a rickety pier. The structure was covered in splinters and ragged, iron nails, and as it reached out into the centre of the sombre lake, it became more and more distant. Half-cut beams lined the sides of the pier, as nettle patches hissed from the shore when the water drew too near.
