Since books and movies are made for diffenrent audiences and tell the stoy in different ways the movie adaptation of a book always leaves out or changes parts of the story in the book. In the Jackie Allen part of the then chapter of the book “High Fidelity” by Nick Hornby the story of Rob's third girlfriend on his desert-island, all-time, top five most memorable split-ups,in chronologigal order list is told. It tells about the evening when of Rob's dj comeback at the club where he used to djay when Laura and he met. The atmosphere is excited and the people are having fun. In the Gideon’s Trumpet, the protagonist, Earl Gideon, was faced with the face of inequality. He could not afford an attorney, and Gideon was denied the right to have an attorney. Gideon had to defend himself without knowing anything about law. Clearance was convicted, but he believed that his institutional rights got denied. Without knowing Gideon would play a big role to help others; it will bring equality and help for diverse people in our society.
This shows how like in her new home Roberta feels alone. She stands out from the movie theater as she does in her new home for being different, however, in the background we see Roberta’s old friends from Chinatown in the back having fun and acting as if they do belong, this shows that they didn’t need to be similar to everyone else to belong. Greg was not able to live without music, however, he did not enjoy the typical rock and roll accustomed to typical teenagers of the time. Greg felt like he is a part of the out-group that could not be “inspired by the bands that formed the fabric of this burnout drug culture”(18). This helps him on his journey to understand the punk style and becoming a part of the punk in-group. Graffin states the values that exist in the punk in-group. “It [sex] became more of an act of rebellion”(19).
Lauren views the people of Robledo, as deflective and isolative thinkers. They refuse to adapt to the environment around them and instead wish to dream about the good old days. The movie shows how they learn to get along and deal with the racial issues in their town. It takes a while for them to get along and trust each other but once they do they are an unstoppable team that no one can break apart. This movie shows how one group of black and white students came together and made the town come together and accept each other. Through their hard work as a team they were all able to become the champions and brought the whole team together. To begin, Tyrone is judgmental; as a result, he comes off as a really tough guy. He feels that to show people that he is not weak he has to be and act better than everyone else. For example, he wants to be a rapper when he gets older. When Tyrone, Wesley, and Sterling go up to do a freestyle rap for Open Mike Fridays, Steve, a white student, goes up to join them. Tyrone believes that Steve could not flow with them; surprisingly, Steve flows pretty well and does really good in front of the class.
With Carrie falling head over heals for Robert Borden, Rose ( aka her best friend and a slave) and another slave Moses, and Roses mama and papa. Carrie's story begin with a tournament, where Robert was riding Granite. She gave him a lock of hair as a token. It was love at first sight, but there was one thing holding them apart, slavery. He believed with all his heart that slavery was right, and she did not.
There are many differences made in the movie and the book to simplify the plot to save time. Majority of the simplifications being made do not affect the story, but have a different way of portraying each chapter. The movie and the book portray the messages in different ways with the same meaning. What happened in the beginning of the movie was that Huck was getting into a fight with a kid and he soon discovered Pap’s footprint, while in the beginning of the book Huck being civilized by Widow Douglas.
The film starts out with an African American man walking in the suburbs. He sees a car and is frightened. A person in a hood strangles him from behind and kidnaps him. This illustrates the fear African Americans have in a white society. The movie then fasts forwards to New York City and turns the focus on Chris who is a successful young photographer.
Introduction Roger’s and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is arguably one of the most well known films that many can admit to watching at least once in their lifetime. People all around the world have found this musical inspiring, as it documents growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. This incredibly well written film is based on the story of the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria when the Nazis invaded it during the war. Part of what made this movie so interesting on so many different accounts was the music that accompanied the vivid and exciting scenes. Without music, many could agree that our world would be a sad, quiet, dull and depressing place.
