It is loud, has a lot of heavy metal objects, music blaring and is not a place most would consider when trying to relax. But that is exactly what this location is for me. It is the place I go when I am stressed, depressed, angry or just need to feel better. It is my sanctuary, it is my local gym. The first thing I hear when I walk in the door is the loud noise of metal weight plates banging together, and I almost instantly feel the stress of life leave me. As I walk through the weight room there is a distinct aroma in the air. Although this aroma is neither a good nor a bad smell, it is a blend of the antibacterial cleaner used to clean and sweat for other. It is a reminder of a high school gym locker room. The noise level is definitely high

Richard Robeson and Nancy M.P. King both indicate that “families and players have been deliberately mislead about the hidden dangers of playing professional football” (334). Informed consent is crucial to any dangerous or adventurous activity. The word informed implies that a person has been given all the information and the person feels comfortable making a decision based on the facts presented. Robeson and King believe that the “inquiry into the growing controversy over concussions and football clearly shows that many decisions have been made in the absence of critically important information” (334). If concussions are a natural consequence of football, then the National Football League would have been willing to better inform their athletes by “[revealing] data from its own sponsored research” after they settled disputes in 2013 with about 4,500 disgruntled players and families; a settlement that cost the league about $765 million” (Robeson and King 335).

I like to help people and make an impact in other peoples life and becoming an athletic trainer would allow me to help people recover, start to feel better, and get back to what they have to do. There isn’t much better than doing a career that you enjoy and like to do plus making pretty good money doing it. I just feel that becoming an athletic trainer and doing it as a career would be the best fit for me.

Besides a coach an athletic trainer is the right hand man to an athlete. As an athletic trainer there are many tasks that keep us going. One is the athletes themselves and all of the requests they come in and demand. From recovering from an injury to preventing a life long injury from reoccurring trainers are always on the move. Prioritizing, viewing a wide variety of injuries, and differing work fields are just a few of the benefits that you get when you are a trainer.
