Now don’t get me wrong, I did have a good high school experience; however this isn’t about the good times I had. I want to tell you a story about something else. A real life lesson that I learned in school, something truly beneficial to my future. My senior year of high school taught me many things, however nothing compared to what I learned when I hit rock bottom that year. My second semester of school I decided that because I already knew where I was going to college I didn’t have to try as hard in school and work as hard for my grades as I had before.
After I was out of school for around a month after my ACL surgery it was hard to catch up but It was not impossible. I didn 't try enough because I already thought my grade was too far gone and that rolled over into the next semester. After the school year I was very disappointed in myself. I never have failed a class in my life but here I was applying for summer school. So I redirected my disappointment and decided to excel at summer school.
Every summer i’d take many courses to advance and exceed in my classes, my parents having some knowledge about high school believed at one point that I had taken a summer course to make up a failing class due to the fact of how my older brother struggled during his years. Not being able to do much during the summer also limited my time to having fun and doing what I liked. Community service hours were never mentioned to me until my sophomore year surprisingly and I had a plethora of hours piled up to my normal schedule, up until now I have been able to do most of those hours but if I were told sooner I’d be done by now. Experiences with my community have also opened up connections to work-related material and internships for the near future. I’ve been living in Atwater for at least more than six years and am surprised with all the time I’d been here, I now know much about the area I raised
Last year, my junior year, was exciting for me because back then I knew that I was literally one year away from being a senior, but I also faced some very difficult challenges. One of the biggest challenges that I had faced last year was being kicked out of my first high school, Villa Angela- St. Joseph, for reasons that I feft were not as serious as the things other people were doing, but in reality, it was not about anyone else, it was about me. I was in trouble. I had to accept and own up to the responsibility and consequences of my actions. Although I had some pretty hard setbacks, I did have great times as well.
Everyone in high school looks to one thing their whole 4 years of high school that is graduation I never really realized it till it hit me I 'm a senior in high school and I have no idea what I am doing I have a 2.0 GPA and I never really took school seriously I 've learned a lot of very important lessons these past 4 years.The first thing I learned is to enjoy life at the moment because time flies very quickly in the blink of an eye you 're all grown up. The second thing I learned was you should have fun but not too much fun there are things I regret and then there are the things I know I did right. I 've made some really bad decisions but I 've also made some really good ones Mistakes are a major fear for us humans but if we didn 't make mistakes we wouldn 't ever learn.There are gonna be times when we 're scared but there 's nothing bigger than fear than fear its self. Imagine when I was a child I wanted to ride a bike,but I was afraid of falling so my parents added training wheels then when I was older they took them off I got on it without the trading wheels and I fell I hurt myself pretty bad I didn 't ever want to go back on that bike again but my brother encouraged me to do it so one day I grabbed the bike and I got on it and forgot all about the fact that the training wheels were off I rode it and I didn 't fall from that day on I rode my bike and I 'd fall here and there but I kept on doing it till I didn 't anymore if I 'd never gotten the courage to
In every science class I’ve had good grades. For example, on my sophomore year I’ve heard many negative comments about chemistry. “Do not take that class, you are going to struggle.” or “ Dude, chemistry f****d me over” But even though from such negative feedback, I still persuade to took that class. By mid year i was surprised I had a B as my grade. In general, I see science as a very interesting subject.
Then as my junior year came around my next sticking moment came. As seen in the picture my junior year I was finally on varsity. I didn’t expect to play or contribute much, I was just happy to be on the team. The third game rolls around and were playing one of the best teams in the league, if not the state. So, i 'm expecting to go in once were down by thirty or so and i 'll have fun playing the garbage minutes.
It all seemed great, but was I ready or would I ever be ready to see people in their worst days? It took me a whole year in college to realize that firefighting was something I did not want to pursue. Desperately looking for a new major, I started to consider teaching, but purely for selfish reasons. However, somewhere during my second year of college, there was a significant spark that led me to want to pursue teaching for a different reason. In high school, sports were everything, maintaining a good GPA was crucial.
Since my school days, sports and extracurricular activities are a vital part of my life. I have participated in various zonal, state and national level competitions since I was 7 years old and have won a lot of prizes and scholarships for the same. I did not discontinue my involvement in non scholastic activities even after high school. In my first year at college, I grossly underestimated the rigor of my college and focused more on these activities, because of which my grades suffered and I even got a backlog in one of the subjects in the first semester. I still vividly remember the winter break after first semester: I was overwrought to the brink of breakdown but I somehow managed.
“Reflection Proyect” Being in High School almost for four years, I have growth as student, also as a person, and I had developed some skills, thanks to my teachers I have had the greatest experiences as a student and now at least six months to get graduated checking my transcript data and looking for my goals for the future, I will like to give recommendations to freshman, since I had passed for that level, and I know how it feels like. My skills in classes of high School represents part of who I’m, In freshman year I had taken easy classes, because I started as an english learning, for me was really complicated because I had no idea what the teacher talked about,but everyday I keep my goal in life,that is be a lawyer, this goal is important
I also made a large, colorful poster board with all aspects of Nevada on it. In return, the teacher gave me a D on it. I still don’t know why I got that grade as my teacher could not give me a good reason for the grade. Of course my essay had a few grammatical errors, but everything else followed the project outline. The drawings weren’t as beautiful as I remembered them being, but what can you expect from a fifth grader?
Michael and Scottie both highly impacted their high school teams, but Michael just the next big thing. He received a full scholarship ride to the University of North Carolina. Michael won multiplied awards and a national championship in his three year span at the UNC. Scottie was from little town in Arkansas and was quite small to compete at a college, these limited his chances. He didn 't let any of this stop him.
During her visit to Whitman, Alexandra made comparisons between her high school years and the high school years of the upperclassmen observed. She noticed the variety of differences between them because during her years there was not much palpable competition but now there was between the students at Whitman. The competition of getting the best grades was a huge deal to the students because their grades were a factor to getting admitted to the college of their choice. Pete a junior student at Whitman, was one of the many overachievers who put in the effort to get the best grades he could even if it meant to risk his own health. Pete was a straight A student who one night took so much caffeine to complete a paper that was due the next day.
I remember the second half of my eighth grade year when I made second alternative for All-State band. I was semi pleased with my results, but I knew I could achieve better. I told Mr.C antrell (my high school band director) and Mr. Lonberger (my middle school band director) in the High School band room that I was going to make All-State Band my Freshman year of high school. That summer I spent a lot of time praying in my room asking God to help me make it. Although I was not playing my Baritone during the summer (because I did not have a personal one) I still did exercises to help my skills.
As our program grew in size, the band focused purely on winning. The less we won, the more they yelled, and the less we wanted to work. That cycle of negativity carried through the next few years, and as the positivity that the upperclassmen sustained disappeared with graduation, the negativity within the band began to spread. I can remember in my sophomore year, we came back with only two third place trophies for one of our competitions, and were yelled at during the bus ride back about how we were slacking off; not a single positive word was said. By the beginning of my junior year, band had become a chore rather than an anticipated hobby; the love that it had brought me began to wear off.
