The Yalta conference and the Potsdam conference were two sessions or meetings held during the Second World War. , These conferences were held for The Big Three to manage their differences and come to several agreements among themselves. The Big Three included the United States (USA), Great Britain and the Soviet Union (USSR/Russia). The Big Three – also referred to as The Grand Alliance – were always known to be enemies and weren’t fond of each other, although had one thing in common and that was their hatred for Germany. They all had this recurring hatred for Germany, and would do anything to watch it burn to the ground, to the point of uniting with one another to help defeat Germany.
A turning point in history occurred on March 5, 1770. It was the first try of the colonists, to rebel against their government. A following event took place on December 16, 1773 when the colonists decided it was time to stand up once again to the injustices
Alliances are formed for different reasons such as the need for financial or military support, trade agreements, investments or loans. Alliances became strong in the early 1800s when european nations either wanted to support French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte or they wanted to defeat him. Alliances weakened in the mid 1800s, but strengthened again in the late 1800s. The Triple Alliance of 1882 was an alliance between Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy, fueled by anti- French and anti-Russian feelings. The Triple Entente of 1907 was a three way agreement between Britain, France, and Russia.
Some might say the Battle of Bunker Hill where General Gage sent 2,400 redcoats to fight colonists where the colonists lost was the turning point because it was the deadliest battle. Winter at Valley Forge where Washington and his troops were low on food supplies since it was harsh winter and 1/5 of every Soldiers died and made continental the troops stronger and more disciplined. One more flip side would be last major battle of the war, Battle of Yorktown, where American and French made Cornwallis surrender his British troops. So, there for the turning point in the Revolutionary War is considered the crucial Battles of Saratoga where the Patriots had a crucial victory in both wars.
Life is presented with a turning point, or life changing experiences, whether it is good or bad. Some people who had a life changing experiences had changed their lives, and also their countries’ lives. Three people that had a turning point in their lives are, Melba Pattillo Beals from memoir Warriors don’t ryWarriors Don’t Cry, Jackie Robinson from autobiography I Never Had It Made, and “The Father of Chinese Aviation” by Rebecca Maksel, which highlights Feng Ru. Melba Pattillo Beals, Jackie Robinson, and Feng Ru had affected their country, and their lives.
So we helped Britain, France, Russia, and Italy. Although reluctantly at first, America was drawn into the European war. America would have loved to remain neutral. Americans were drawn in mainly for three reasons. The first reason was that the Germans crushed Belgium trying to get to France.
The Allies consisted of Britain, France, Italy, and later the United States would
Although the people during that time period thought that the war was going to end quickly, simply because it was between Austria and Serbia, the war surprisingly included many other strong countries because of nationalism especially regarding the Balkan colonies wanting to be self-governed. But meanwhile, after Austria-Hungary proclaimed war with Serbia, countries from the Triple Entente later joined into war in a matter of time. As shown in Document A: the European Alliances and nations are shown on a map. The nations then started to pick sides. Austria-Hungary and Germany formed the Central Powers
Every day turning points occur. Some are life changing in both positive and negative ways, and countries can be changed based on these turning points. Jackie Robinson from “I Never Had It Made” Melba Beals from “Warriors Don’t Cry” and Feng Ru from “The Father of Chinese Aviation” all faced turning points. These turning points changed their lives and in doing so changed their countries for the better. Jackie Robinson changed Major League Baseball for all African Americans.
As a result of this alliance and German support, Austro-Hungary then went to annex Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908-09, thus starting the first Balkan Crisis. Source B reveals why alliances were responsible for increasing tension, as it states “ in the event of a Russian attack on Austria, Germany’s obligation as Austria’s ally might….. render a European conflagration* inevitable”. Therefore if Germany attacked Russia in fear or retaliation of an attack on Austro-Hungary, France would be drawn into the battle, as the 1894 Franco-Russian alliance, causes France aiding Russia against Germany. This would then cause Italy to be drawn into the battle due to the Triple Alliance (1882), which brought Italy in if two powers attacked Germany. These endless confrontations prove why alliances are responsible for increasing tension, as all Empires wished to expand, to ‘gain their place in the sun’, yet, if they did so, lots of battles would be triggered, due to the large amount of
In 1939, war broke out between two forces, the Axis and the Allies. The Axis included the countries Germany, Italy, and Japan, but this alliance was more of a political relationship. Those included in the Allies alliance were the US, France, Britain, and the Soviet Union. Their relationship in a way was political, but they could depend on the other states in the Allies group whenever they need help. Germany attacked Poland, however President Roosevelt didn’t pay any attention to it until Germany’s leader, Adolf Hitler, encouraged Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Spanish Armada was a turning point in history because of the huge upset that occurred because of 3 main reasons which were the Spanish's poorly set up strategies, the English's well defended land and the timing and natural events that occurred during spain's attack. The Spanish Armada was a exciting event in history because it shows how even when all the odds are against you, you can still win. England less ships and far less men, but somehow managed to defeat the “Invincible” Spanish Armada with just a few fireships, long ranged weapons, and according to some, the help of god.
In the late 19th century “The European leaders believed that by creating a balance of power they could prevent such horror. This idea was that if all the counties had balanced strengths that nobody could dominate the rest. There was a wide-spread of wars due to the sharing of the boarders. The triple alliance was fought in France and in Russia. It was the war that started all the Alliances.
This was most important because different countries would not be involved if they weren’t allies. Before the war happened, Russia, France and Britain had formed an alliance- the Triple Entente. All three countries think that Germany would be a threat to them. Russia thinks that Germany’s army base is too big; UK thinks that Germany’s wealth and navy increased to threaten UK; The relationship between Germany and France had been sour as Germany stole a land from France, and had been in a long-standing feud with Germany from then. Then, Austria-Hungary and Germany formed an alliance with Belgium and the Ottoman Empire joining in.
In history, we learn about many different events that have changed the world. But which events had the most impact? These events have altered the way we live our daily lives and without them, the world wouldn’t be the same. The most important events to impact the world was the invention of the Gutenberg printing press, the effects of World War 1, and the fabrication of the internet.
