INTRODUCTION
Eating healthy is what everyone should practice as it can help in living a healthy lifestyle and not be threatened by diet-related illness. Dietetics is branch of knowledge concerned with diet and its effect of health, and with the practical application of scientific understanding nutrition.
HISTORY OF DIETETICS IN WORLD
Dietetics begun in the ancient Greeks (19th century) when they realised the important of nutrition because they believed that a proper diet is a way of living a healthy lifestyle. They recognised the importance of diet in both health and illness. They believed many diseases were caused by unhealthy diet and nutritional food was a very common way of treating the various human illnesses.

World War was in progress as that brought early dietitians together to discuss the feeding needs and it was also recognised that the services of dietitians in hospital were important,both in food service and in treating illness with diet. In 1984 and 1996 another memorandum were send to the Ministry of Health by then the Chief Dieticians Mrs A.Owusu to train dieticians locally in one of the universities. Again nothing positive achieved.
The hospital future of dietetics in the country was in risky. As there was a shortage of dietetics , the problem would be fixed permanently only when they will allow professional dieticians to be trained in one of the university in the country.
Diet-related diseases were discovered and dieticians were limited to treat patients. Most of the diseases were caused by dietary deficiencies and only few dieticians were available in the country and specialised clinics where diet therapy plays a very important role are now working in the hospitals in the country.
In the beginning of 1998 a 6 month training campaign in dietetics was held at Korle-bu. This skill-based campaign was known as the “stop gap” campaign admitted bachelor graduates from nutritional and sciences.
