4. Compare and Contrast the leadership skills of Ho Chi Minh and Diem. Ho Chi Minh was president of North Vietnam and Diem was president of South Vietnam. The people of Vietnam thought differently of their presidents but the only thing they wanted was the same was independence and freedom for Vietnam. The people of the North love Uncle Ho. They believe he was a great leader and he was. Other countries thought he was a great leader even the United States but they did not like he was communist. The people of the south hated their Diem. The United States even thought that Diem was a bad leader but they did other about him because he was the only guy that want connect to the Unites States. Ho Chi Minh had the loyalty of his people behind even …show more content…
Communism movement was more in the old world. The countries that had a communist government were more in counties that had miss up governments or foreign countries controlling the government. Russia was a countries that had a monarchy and its citizens rebel against it. Vietnam communist party came around because the French wanted Vietnam back under their control after World War 11. The United States and Great Britain would never come to a communist government because it would mess up the capitalist government they have. The major people would never wanted their freedom of the high class losing want they got. Communist did spread to other countries after World War 11, that had a problem with their government but it was not spreading fast. The United States fear that communism would spread to them but I do not think that communism would ever touch the United States. I believe that the United States should had got involved with stopping the spread of communism in other countries. The United States should not be involved with problen in foreign countries. Vietnam wanted freedom and independence from the French and the Vietnamese communist party was doing it like the Unites States getting independence from Great Britain all them years ago. So the United States should have not had done anything about the spread of …show more content…
Patriotism means that everyone one countries with different background is all the same. Like the United States, everyone but Native American had immigrants here and everyone is treated as equal no matter if this was not their original country. Nationalism is different than patriotism. Nationalism is about the pride and loyalty to one's country but people with the same background and culture in that country. For example Vietnam, Vietnamese people view their country is great and if someone try to take control over Vietnam then they will fight back because they do not want others in their country with different background. There is a difference between the love one one’ country and fear of other countries. The love of one’s country is pride and respect of their country. Patriotism can be show of that. But the fear of other countries is the fear of their country being taken over by those countries. Nationalism in Vietnam came around after France being in control of Vietnam for so many years. The French change things in Vietnam making it hard for them. Vietnam wanted to have their country from the French because they did not want foreign run their government. Many countries fear other countries power because they can come to their country can invade them, kill their people, make them slaves, and take over their
Although this is very unlike as mentioned, most people of America are too worried about self gain and self interest, and the facade of society places a biased view on anything linked to communism. Too many immediately reject any idea of communism. It can be seen that not significant work was done in the world in “Anthem” and that extreme forms of communism are likely to fail, but a less extreme form like socialism could possibly save the world from corruption, and could bring the world back together as
The public put unavoidable pressure on the government to cease involvement in the war, especially as it was eating massive amounts of tax payer’s money. In November 1969, 500,000 people demonstrated against the war in Washington DC. Also, Viet Cong aims were to simply never give in and inflict enough damage on the USA to withdraw. Whereas US strategies included forcing North Vietnam to give in, making them agree to an acceptable solution to the conflict, insuring China or the USSR wouldn’t be drawn into the conflict, all whilst ‘protecting’ South Vietnam and building support there. As well as these aims being more difficult from the offset, there was also much more initiative for the Viet Cong soldiers, who were fighting for an ideology they whole-heartedly believed in and for their country.
Hollywood Ten Communism was big during the Cold War era, and what happened to be more huge was that your favorite actor is also a communist and he are portraying a communist view. Also, the movie that you just watched was virtually sending a message to you about converting onto communism. Communism was disease during the 20th century. Everyone wanted to avoid it as much as they could, and there were plenty of articles written on the catch up on the communists and what they’ve done so far. One major popular one that was sweeping the country was the writers in Hollywood and how they’ve become part of the communist party.
Patriotism is the affirmation of one 's country in light of its best values, including the attempt to correct it when it 's in error" (54). Dyson is drawing a very big distinction here. Nationalism is a great sense of pride in one 's own country and seeks to put your country first regardless of whether it 's politically or morally acceptable to the people that live there. In nationalism, people tend to
For example he killed innocent people. Acorrding to History.com staff claims he killed 6,000 people or more in cold blood. Once Ho Chi Minh got back to vietnam he rose up in power. History.com writes that after he rose up in power he started to lead a bunch of people later called the Viet Minh. these were the people that fought for Ho Chi Minh.
A contest never occurred in Vietnam on the grounds that the two contradicting sides South area upheld by the U.S., and North part of the country (Vietnam) bolstered by China and Russia couldn 't concede to the terms of the presidential decision. The U.S. trusted that he would win the decision, due to his prominence. North and South area were situated to battle a common conflict to figure out which government would lead post-provincial Vietnam. The two sides developed their military and occupied with fights.
As a result, the Vietnamese revolted against the French and eventually succeeded under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the Viet Minh, which was the main coalition that led the revolt. French rule made many changes to the lives of the Vietnamese and some negative long-term impacts of their rule is still seen in Vietnam, especially in economics and politics. In order to solve the economic issues created by imperialism, the Vietnamese government needs to prevent further excessive extraction of resources and increase the amount of exports while decreasing the amount of imports. As for politics, although Vietnam has a Communist government, the government should still give the people basic rights such as freedom of
“If the war has faded into history, democracy’s defeat in Vietnam has left deep marks in the consciousness of both nations,” said Nguyen Cao Ky. The Vietnam War was a long and costly conflict that lasted several years from 1954 to 1975. It extended the problems with the communist government of North Vietnam and its allies, the Viet Cong, led by Ho Chi Minh, against the government of South Vietnam and its major ally, the United States. The North and the South had different perspectives and desires for what type of government they wanted to pursue.
Following President Eisenhower’s speech, the Domino Theory spread like wildfire. The Theory itself stated that if one country were to fall under communist rule, then the countries around them would eventually fall into communism as well. President Eisenhower and the U.S government felt that if Vietnam were to fall into communism that all of Southeast Asia would be under communist rule. Following Eisenhower's
How did the Truman Doctrine influence on the U.S. relation policy economically of Taiwan in 1952-1965? Introduction: In 1947 before the Cold War, the U.S. President Harry S. Truman gave out his policy of containment, Truman doctrine, which is known as the first declaration of the Cold War. It demonstrated that the United States would help any nation both economically and militarily to protect its democracy from the communism and avoid its spread (Truman Doctrine of 1947). After the World War II, the United States had been aware of the rising of communism since the event of George Kennan’s long telegram.
This leads me to wonder if the United States assisted these two countries as much as they did South Vietnam. However, with the assists of the United States South Vietnam over the next few years appointed a new leader and started to gain freedom
Another notable reason led to the defeat of the French was the supports from China and Soviet Union to the Viet Minh. China and Soviet Union were the two biggest alliances of Viet Minh and played an important role in the outcome of the war. The former recognized the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on 18 January 1950 while the latter did so two weeks later. China, under the leadership of Mao Zedong greatly influenced the morale of the Viet Minh as it now shared border with a great ally which increased the weapon supplies and aid thus put more pressure on France (Sagar D. , 1991). Even before the recognition from People’s Republic of China and the Soviet Union, the Viet Minh gained support from China since the early years of the war when the Chinese
Between being colonized by the Chinese or by the French, Vietnam has throughout its history been either dominated directly by or at least influenced politically by a foreign power. The French began directly ruling over Vietnam in 1887 after winning a series of wars in the name of extracting coal, rubber, rice, and rare minerals. However, the birthplace of the Enlightenment and resulting French Revolution provided little in return, intentionally leaving Vietnam to be grossly illiterate, lacking any modern industry, and dependent upon France. In opposition to the exploitation, the Dong Du, a Vietnamese independence movement inspired by Japan's anticolonial success against Russia in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, grew within a community
Communism becomes a critical issue when a new order is needed to guide individuals within a society. Communism is an ideology created in order to put an end to capitalism. Communism grew large in countries when people started noticing the promises that were being made like everyone would earn the same and workers especially wouldn’t be mistreated. Over the years however the true colors of what was supposed to be a helpful movement and political ideology was starting to become negative. With the exception of a few countries communism is almost wiped out.
Ho, influenced by his father, a confucian teacher, early developed an anti-colonial sentiment which would intensify over the years and was influenced by different political theories1.Resulting of this anti-colonial sentiment and his contact to Communism, Ho Chi Minh has played a vital role in freeing Vietnam
