The movie ‘Fences’ has three main characters: Troy Maxson, Cory Maxson, and Rose Maxson. However, I believe characters such as Lyons Maxson, Jim Bono, and Gabriel Maxson play extremely important roles in the movie also. Therefore, I will speak on all six.

The Wife’s Story Ursula K. Leguin is a short story describing a wife retrospective of her husband who she thought of as a loving and caring father and husband a somewhat perfect person always gentle. Yet he had a fatal flaw that led to his death that the wife failed to recognize until it was too late. Throughout the story, the wife recounts important events that led to his deaths events that should have been clues to aid her to recognize the flaw within her husband. In the story, Leguin shows us how the wife’s perception was deceiving her. She was looking at her husband but couldn’t see him for whom he really was.

How is Catherine unique? In the book, Rules by Cynthia Lord, Catherine was the main character who faced many challenges throughout the book. She has a mom who does not really understand her problems. Her dad does not really play a big role in the story. These challenges often include his little brother, David, messing up things. Chris McCandless was just a normal college graduate just like any other person but then he decided to go into the wild and go travel to all different areas before he went to Alaska. In Chapter Five of the novel, Janie describes Joe’s impact on the people of the town of Eatonville and his unique dominance qualities: “There was something about Joe Starks that cowed the town. In the story young Sarny, a slave, is taught to read and write by a fellow slave, John. She knows that as a slave that reading is dangerous. But she takes that chance, because she knows wisdom is sharper than any weapon.

The book’s evolving opinion about hockey might be interpreted as a tool for the public to read and perhaps comprehend the negative reality that occurs in and outside of the story. Cody’s outlooks on hockey develop from positive, to negative, and then, again, to positive. At first, Cody loves hockey; it makes him happy, dedicated, hardworking and is a positive outlet leading him to a bright future. When Cody begins playing for Coach Connors’ team, the abuse begins and his love for hockey is replaced with alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts, and misery. His positive view of hockey come to be negative because of the effects of Connors’ abuse that he, in the words of Theo Fleury, young hockey player abused by Graham James, “did not have the emotional skills, the knowledge, or the ability to stop [it].” (Globe and Mail) Once Cody comes forward about the abuse and the public’s interest has lessened, he realizes that hockey was not the source of his pain, Connors was, and now that Connors was gone, he could go back to loving hockey the way he always did, without abuse, alcohol and misery clouding his judgment. Libby Peppers, born on August 31, 1988 in Virginia Beach, VA, to Kathy and Jerome Peppers, loves life to the fullest. She is the second oldest of four children, three girls and one boy. Her siblings include Darcy, Jenna and JJ (Jerome Jr.); all two years apart. Although, Libby’s parents use to be free spirits in their youth, they have promise to raise their children in a strict, uptight, and Godly home. Her parents strongly believe that this strict environment is the best way to protect them from outside influences and peer pressure of today's society. Kathy and Jerome actually set the children up for failure because the children are socially unequipped for society. Music and horseback riding are the only activities, but Libby is the only child to excel at both. She even saved all of her allowances to buy a custom guitar and her only best friend Runner (the horse).

In the story, “The Story of An Hour”, the main character is Louise Mallard. She is a dynamic character. She internally changed throughout the story. In the beginning of the story, she heard the news of her husband’s death in train accident from her sister Josephine and her husband’s friend, Richard. She was shocked by the news and showed sad feelings in the story. However, when I was reading through the story, I could infer that Mallard had a terrible marriage life with her husband because the story later said that Mallard was happy because she had freedom. In the beginning of the story, she was shocked and sad but later on, she was happy because of in dependence. These evidences prove that she is a dynamic character. Round character in the story definitely would be Louise Mallard because she is fully developed and has a lot of emotions throughout the story. As I mentioned, she had a terrible time during her marriage time because she has no freedom and etc. However, as soon as she heard Brently died in train accident, she was shocked but mostly enjoyed it because she got a freedom and eventually died because of her joy. Because the story reveals a lot of her feelings in terms of freedom, developed and changed; she is a round character.
