During the Fourth of July and the turning of the new year at 12:00am, people love to bust their weapons in the air in isolated pockets around the city. In fact, the Fourth of July is known for gang members shooting some rounds at each other just because most people cannot tell the difference between a firework pop and a gunshot. Therefore, it is best to avoid visiting Chicago during the holidays or if you need to come to Chicago for a family function or business meeting, simply avoid the high-crime areas because that is where majority of this stuff happens. Another holiday that could be potentially dangerous is Halloween because people wear masks to conceal their identities giving them leeway to throw frozen eggs and onions or in extreme cases shoot pellet guns or paintball guns on random people without being recognized.
