Concealed weapons are a type of protection that many people have argued about for various reasons. Some people believe that carrying a concealed weapon should be a right that everyone should have, while others believe that it is unsafe for themselves or others. Concealed weapons are weapons, especially handguns, which are kept hidden on one's person, or under one's control (“USLegal, Inc”). When people discuss concealed weapons, they usually talk about handguns; however, any device or instrument that can cause harm or death to another individual is considered a weapon. This could include knives, tools, and items that could be turned into a weapon. Most states have their own laws when it comes to who or where someone can carry a concealed weapon and students who are on campuses must abide by those laws.

In the past decade there have been many mass shootings which sparked a nationwide debate on the ban on assault weapons. Assault weapons are Semiautomatic weapons that are usually used in the military due to their advanced features. The difference between a Semiautomatic weapon and a regular pistol is that semiautomatic guns reload automatically and can fire consistently (Assault Weapons). Majority of Americans argue that Assault Weapons should be banned nationwide because of the amount of mass shootings caused by Assault weapons. The public does not need a military level weapon for protection. Also, other countries took legal action by banning assault weapons due to tragic events. If you can get out of dangers way from an attacker than you should get away rather than protecting yourself and possibly using deadly force. Some states like Alaska allows people to use self-defense at a place where a person resides, a place where he is a guest, and his workplace; also applies to protecting a child or member of the person’s household, regardless of location (Reinhart). If you can prevent bodily harm, then you need to retreat rather than shooting the attacker. Many people believe that murder is murder, whether it is self-defense or not. If someone is attempting to remove a person against his will then someone should take action and help that person whether it is necessary or not (Reinhart). States like Oklahoma have Castle Doctrines that states that a homicide is justifiable when in defense of one’s self or one’s child against a violent felony, including one within the home. The forth element of the NRA provides that, when an act of self-defense is otherwise lawful, and takes places in a location in which the defender is lawfully present, the defender is not required to retreat from a felonious attack, or the threat of an attack(Cox). Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.

States like Texas allows you to carry any types of guns with no licenses or permit and in California, you need a license and a permit to bear arms. Are you a person that has, or has ever had possession of a gun? People believe that the United States of America should have gun control. I do not believe that. I believe people should have the right to posses, and bear arms. The Second Amendment of the Constitution clearly states "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Humans having ownership of a gun is a American tradition, thus is older than the country itself, and the second amendment protects this tradition. The number of incidents of gun violence last year in the United States was about 60,000. In recent years, the number of mass shooting has risen to about one mass shooting per day in the United States. The country is divided with some wanting to reevaluate our gun control laws and either ban or add additional regulations to the purchase of guns. Others say it is our right for Americans to own guns and something the founding fathers considered important to put in the Bill of Rights. The number of firearm sales has risen with the number of mass shooting many Americans question if banning guns or certain guns could help decrease the number of gun violence deaths. Before researching more in depth, I believe bad people do bad things and banning guns will not be effective in stopping it.

Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer.

One situation is that someone breaks into your house and the burglar is coming at you with a gun or knife or anything like that. First of all, you are going to have to keep your firearm out of the reach of children so they would not have possession of the gun. A good place to put it would be on top of the shelf out of children 's eyesight, and do not keep in under a pillow because whenever you are sleeping, you heads could move a little bit and the weapon would go off. Now another important fact of firearms are to have the gun unloaded whenever it is put away. It should be unloaded because if something happens and it slips, it could fire anywhere. You would have to put the gun into a case because the case has ammunition holder so if you would have to ever use the weapon/firearm, you would have it close by.

One day there could be an intruder in your home and about to cause harm to your family , if you have a gun on you all you have to do is shoot the intruder thus saving your family. The average response time for police to arrive at your home is about six minutes, and a lot can happen within those six minutes. Sometimes depending where you live if you live in the country side a beer or wolf may break into your home to look for some food, you see this and don’t want your family to get hurt so if you have a gun you wouldn’t have a problem. You can also teach your children the importance and safety of gun control and handling that way when they are home alone they would have no problem defending themselves.
