He helped the American military win the Revolutionary War, and was likely one of the most influential people of the entire war. Even with little experience as a general, he became one of the greatest, most widely known leaders of all time. He made mistakes, but he always learned from them and fought his way through. He fought battles bravely and overcame difficulties in the military with ease. This eventually led to him becoming the first ever president of the United States.
In the book of His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, the author introduces Washington, the Father of the United States, in a fresh portrait focused on the characters of Washington. This book is an impressive biography of Washington's remarkable dedication to the United States history. According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington's life is divided into three areas in this book.
General Gates had underestimated his troops ability to fight until it was too late to back out. The start of the battle involved
(Scythes,n.d)After a few years, the Revolutionary War had broken out, and Horatio Gates was a supporter of independence, driving him to become Brigadier general. Soon after the evacuation of Boston in 1776, Gates had problems with General Philip Schuyler regarding the command of the Northern army. When they brought the disagreement to congress, they sided with Schuyler and Gates was of less command under Schuyler. Gates and Schuyler met the next year at the battle of Ticonderoga where they fought alongside each other. Gates then took charge of Schuyler's almost defeated troops, and combined them with his own, nearly winning the day.(Kline, n.d) Not long after during the invasion of New York in 1776, Gates and his troops were able to push away Major General Guy Carletons assault.
Battle of Camden The battle of Camden fought on august 16th 1780 during the revolutionary war, Reasons for the British for attacking Camden were varied depending on opinions and notes. From that point on there were many reasons for the attack but the main one could definitely be that the British needed Camden for personal gain. General Horatio gates (the leader of the defensive militia) was assigned to take back north, Carolina with men who were not mentally or physically trained, since they weren't, they were demolished about 2,000 - 3,000 British to Camden. The last of the colonists were imprisoned or killed.
This is when the revolutionary war began. Washington with his military experience became the general of the continental army. Although Washington lost most wars he motivated his men. His most remembered battle is the battle of Trenton in which he ambushed the Hessians and took over a British camp.
Benedict Arnold is one of the most infamous traitors in history, particularly the Revolutionary War. Arnold's name is coined as a traitor and has been a great controversial debate. With Arnold's hard decision in battle tactics, the choices he has made led to a huge victory for the Americans. So, without Benedict Arnold's bravery and courage, could the U.S. have won the Revolutionary War? Where would America be today if Arnold didn't make the decisions he did in battle?
It was a pyrrhic victory for the British forces and proved to be a fundamental battle for American Colonists seeking independence. Despite the Colonists successes in the skirmish, if the American militia had better leadership from Colonel William Prescott the story of Bunker Hill would be a different tale. Colonel Prescott’s role as commander in this instance demonstrated his inability to understand, visualize, assess, and lead across the battlefield to ensure mission accomplishment. As the commander, it is inherent to apply critical and creative thinking. Colonel Prescott’s judgment, or lack thereof was the groundwork for the British
The Revolution: American Crisis is an interesting documentary of the beginnings of the revolutionary war and the struggles the American colonists encountered. The documentary uses many different sources, the truth that not everyone approved of General George Washington leading the continental army, and the internal struggles the soldiers faced for perseverance and recruitment. George Washington had tremendous leadership abilities. I think George Washington had tremendous abilities because, he was confident that his army of soldiers could defeat the Hessians in the Revolutionary war. Even though they were young kids and the Hessians were believed to be genuinely good when it comes to battle. Many people including General Gates were doubting his army. Another reason why I think George Washington had tremendous abilities in leadership is because, he is a proud man.
George Washington demonstrated Remarkable leadership in a long and difficult war. Being the commander of the continental army he faced many challenges that some people would not be able to overcome. One reason the American army started to act more like an army rather than a bunch of farmers and workers was because of George Washington. He had a huge impact on the war and the starting of the revolution, Its safe to say he had a big impression on the way everything turned out. Not only did he have a huge impact on the war side of the revolution he also had an impact on the political side.
Part of being the president of the United States is to ensure the safety and well being of this country, which means that whoever it may be, must be confident, brave, and true. The United States has had many presidents that have met these expectations, but George Washington stands above them all. He was the quintessential leader. A key quality that can make or break a presidents career while in office is confidence.
By late 1776, Benedict Arnold had recovered greatly from his war injury to once again take the battlefield. He played a vital role in interrupting a British invasion from Canada into New York that year. Despite his heroic personality, and great services, Arnold felt he did not receive the recognition he deserved. Which he didn’t. He resigned from the Continental Army in 1777 after Congress welcomed five junior officers over him.

America’s First Spies Not everyone knows that George Washington was a spymaster. During the Revolutionary War George Washington used brave men and women to get secret messages to other people. They used many different techniques to communicate. If George Washington had not formed a ring of spies, America might not have won the Revolutionary war.
