Hospital Compare is where people can go to get data on the quality of care that is offered at over 4,000 hospitals. The quality of care is extremely important because people want to know if they will be getting the best care at one of these hospitals, and how does a physician treat the patient if they are ill. The information that you can get about hospitals is, how does the hospital rate compared to all of the other hospitals, the hospital’s location, how patients can get a hold of the hospital, is the hospital a rehabilitation hospital, a psychiatric hospital, a general hospital, or a specialty hospital, and what is the hospital called. Also, the information that you can find on hospitals is, how did a recent patient observe the hospital based on their hospital experience, this saying, how did the patient rate the hospital on how well the physicians, and nurses communicated with them. This is extremely important because at a hospital you want doctor, and nurses to answer any questions they might have.
Additionally, regarding scheduling, an electronic health information system does not only help in the coordination of the workers in the nursing healthcare institutions but also helps the managers to focus on service quality and control costs. Notes One of the key components of healthcare information systems is the electronic health records. As a result of the rapidly advancing technology especially in the healthcare sector, most of the nursing and healthcare providing institutions have adopted the electronic health records that have replaced the paper-based records as means of documentation. Proper utilization of the electronic health information systems in nursing institutions have by far improved efficiency and productivity especially in regard to scheduling and planning for patients care. The system helps the healthcare providers to come up with flexible and conclusive schedules based on the conditions of the patients as recorded in the system countering past problems of schedule management and patient care.
The former is represented with the hospital CEO and administrative staff, and the latter consists of clinicians (medical professionals such as doctors, health officers, nurses, and pharmacists). However, the management task is not completely left to the administrative staff. In addition to using their medical expertise to make the best diagnosis and treatment decisions, clinicians in hospitals are also responsible to manage their medical departments on a day to day basis. They have a delegated formal authority, and are thus integrated in the hospital management structure assuming such positions as head of a department or clinical managers. As managers they involve at varying degrees in issues affecting a hospital including strategic planning, and preparation of capital and operating budgets.
I will also explain the advantages and disadvantages for hospitals and physician’s models. All of these things are important for health care administrators to understand about the relationship between a physician and the facility they work at. One of the first things we will discuss is what an integrated physician model actually is. As defined by our text book “an integrated physician model is the result of a series of partnerships between hospitals and physicians developed over time.” Since that is the text book definition lets try and clear it up just a little bit. The integrated physician model really is a very generic term that is showing an effort by both the physician and hospital for a very wide range of purposes.
By ensuring that everything at the facility is running smoothly you can make it easier for doctors and other healthcare professionals to do their jobs. Whether you end up running a single department, a large
The team tasked with the health information management will interact with the technology since they are the ones that are needed to implement and train other members of staff at the hospital on the proper use of information systems. On the other hand, the clinical team will need technology for administration of medication and retrieval of the records of the patients. Furthermore, the systems will also be valuable to the doctors and other medical practitioners in gathering demographic information and analyzing it for purposes of patient diagnosis and treatment. They can also be used to verify the identity of patients and process their payment information by the accounting staff. For the hospital administration, the healthcare information management will be the most useful tool for gathering Featherfall’s demographic information which will enable them to know how the facility is
The new system will be able to measure the quality, safety and efficacy of care as well as improvement of clinical, financial, and administrative performances. It has also designed payment systems and processors for claims reimbursement. The system is now able to conduct research, epidemiological studies, and clinical trials as well by simply searching the library of information. The system can also prevent and detect healthcare fraud or abuse! One more cool ability
CHAPTER THREE: LITERATURE REVIEW 3.1 Introduction The following section discusses various studies that have dealt with study of health management information system (HMIS) and factors affects’ information utilization. Health information system has an organized set of interrelating components that can be grouped under two entities: the information process, and the health information system management structure. Through the information process, raw data (inputs) are transformed into information in a usable form for management decision-making (outputs). The information process can be broken down into sub components: (i) data collection, (ii) data transmission, (iii) data processing, (iv) data analysis and (v) presentation of data and information
Hospitals are complex organizations in which multiple healthcare professionals work interdependently to deliver care (Gatrell, 2005). Unfortunately, such conditions raise the potential for confusion, errors and delays for both the hospital and the patients. It is important that the patient information is accurate and provided on a timely basis. However, better collection and dissemination of information on patients and provider performance appears to be a cornerstone for building improved care coordination (Hofmarcher et al. 2007).
In the same way, if it uses more IT in its organization, its reliability will be increased because its works will be more efficient. Problems The major problem is document management, the hospital does not have effective document management . thus ,It took long time when they find or keep the patient record document. It is the cause effect to other processes and the result is the whole process was delay. For the minor problem, the appointment process is not effective at all.
