Thomas Nast’s cartoon “Uncle Sam’s Thanksgiving Dinner” depicts the United States in a positive light contrary to the dark past that plagued the country through the centuries putting the focus on Nast’s idealistic view of America. This cartoon shows ethnic equality in the United States with multiple races sitting around a table, from the Native American and Irishman to the African American and Chinese family this cartoon attempts to depict a togetherness of all races represented in American. The phrases on the two bottom corners that read: “Come one come all” and “Free and Equal” attempt to show the equality in America at this time without addressing the lack of equality that occurred in the previous one hundred years. The article, “Shopping Trumps Turkey”, by Gregory Karp, argues between whether or not retailers should initiate Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving day. Karp considers that retailers should not commence the sales a day earlier. I agree with the author, due to the fact that the retailers that begin the sales on Thanksgiving day are careless and greedy, along with commanding people to not spend time with their families. Clearly, retailers should not release Black Friday sales a day earlier.
You can dine for a light lunch or eat until your heart’s content with appetizers, a meal, soup or salad and delicious desserts. In 1974, the legendary Popcorn Shrimp was introduced to the Red Lobster menu and people have been raving about it ever since. These are bite-sized pieces of battered heaven. The famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits that hit the menu in 1992 were one of the greatest creations in human history. It’s tempting to have an entire meal of biscuits, but you need to save room for the entree. The dinner selections consist of, but are not limited to, shrimp, lobster, crab, fresh fish and clams. You have to be mentally prepared to eat to eat a lot of food. The options of sides include creamy potatoes, rice pilaf, fresh vegetables or a crisp green salad. Dining at Red Lobster indicates that you are interested in seafood. If you’re not the one who likes seafood, Red Lobsters does offer burgers, chicken and

You’re starving. You haven't eaten anything since that greasy taco at lunch. Pacing impatiently, you decide you’ll actually set the table before you're asked. When you set the table, the smell of chicken and gravy make your knees weak. Closing your eyes, you inhale deeply. The toaster pops, and it has your ears ringing as you place folded napkins under the polished silverware. You can almost see the chicken in gravy on toast, almost feel it, and taste this savory, heavenly meal in your mouth. Dinner is called.
