How 1970's Changed The Music Industry

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the events that took place in the 1960s? Music that were performed or sang in the 1960s were great. Elvis Presley was a great american singer of rock and was mostly referred as “King of Rock and Roll.” Now “The Beatles” were a group of 4 male british talented people that invaded the United States and ended up popular. The best genre of music that were played in the 1960s were mostly rock.

German Romantic writer Jean Paul Richter said, “Music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life”. For the youth of the 1960, there were no truer words strung together. The 1960’s in America were a very turbulent few years with the conflict in Vietnam being only one of the examples as to why. This is a time period where the youth rebelled against the system their elders put into place and began to either create their own systems, or fight to create change. Many blame this sudden outburst of individuality on the music of the time, but the truth is that Rock and Roll did not shape the minds of the youth; the youth’s minds shaped Rock and Roll.

The music of the 1960 was the best of all time! The 1960s were filled with many mixed emotions. Personally, I enjoy the music that came from the 1960s.There were many new genres of rock music invented. The social, political, and historical events of the 1960s had torn and built up the people, here 's how.

What do you call a rock that listens to The Ramones? Punk Rock. While some people are familiar with this genre of music, there are others who have no clue what music it is. However, depending on the person, that may be a good thing.

Rock music in the 1960s was egalitarian, eclectic, and real based on a number of reasons. To explain the 'real' piece of rock music in the 1960s, one would have to know that there was war going on overseas that didn't make sense to Americans as to why it was going on (the Vietnam war). There was also still severe inequality between blacks and whites causing protests to occur via the Civil Rights movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There was inequality between women and mens rights. These issues caused dissatisfaction to occur in the American people. What better way to vent dissatisfaction than through music! Also in addition to the frustrations described above, teen rebellion from the parental obligations was also in full swing. The result of this was 'free love' and experimenting with drugs. This led to creative, and mind you interesting, rock that Americans loved like "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by The Beatles. The 1980s was a decade where many things changed drastically. The music industry in the 1980s experienced major changes, mostly due to the political and economic changes, and new trends and inventions.

Music was a way most teenagers found an outlet. Rock n’ roll first arrived on the music scene as race music and it wasn’t until teenagers started requesting radio stations to play it that it started to become more widely popular. By accepting this music, Americans were opening themselves to a whole new culture of things that would soon come to influence the nation.

The counterculture during the 60s influenced a lot of music.  The music first started in the UK then eventually made it’s way to the US.  Some of the major cities for this counterculture were London, New York City, and San Francisco.  Because of the many different movements going on in the 60s, many songs had lyrics in them that talked about the movements.  Also during the 60s there were many different types of music formed.  One of the most popular ones was Rock.  Rock had many different types.  People would create these different types of rock by using different instruments, and different types of music.  Country music was also very popular, and still is popular today.  Country music started in the 50s, but it was most popular in the 60s.

En Masse, Rock and Roll has influenced various areas of the youth culture amid the 1960’s, dominating many areas of the world. The popularity and international outlook for rock music resulted in a compelling impact on society as Rock and Roll influenced everyday fashions, attitudes, and behaviors. Drawing on many different styles, this genre of music excited a worldwide generation of young listeners, while, at the same time, distressing musical, cultural, and social authorities. Presently, it is tough to fully understand the bitter criticism the new music generated in its entirety. Rock music gave shape to many different counter-cultural movements which engulfed the world. Without Rock and Roll, many genres of music would never have emerged, such as: garage rock, pop rock, blues rock, and psychedelic rock. Although rock no longer rules popular music, the styles of the 1960’s still appeal to the ears of those born long after. Earth day was first celebrated in United States in 1970. Hippies were primarily the ones who got Earth day passed by the government. Disco was very popular as well; People would go to nightclubs and strobe lights and mirror balls would be everywhere, the latest 70’s hits would also be playing. The Vietnam War, The Battle of Civil Rights and music affected a lot of the fashion in 70’s.

There were many mediums that influenced the American society like music, television, and movies for entertainment for the people. Because of this, the generation gap between adults and kids grew larger and larger. Parents and adults favored contemporary music while teenagers likes hard rock. In addition, many musicians and bands became known in the 1980s like the Cure, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, A-ha, and Madonna. There were many popular activities and dances that sparked in this decade like Running Man, the Worm, and the Robot. Games like Pac-Man, Donkey- Kong, and Super Mario Bros, were also very trendy for kids and

Heavy metal music was developed and introduced in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The music largely dominated the United States and the United Kingdom. The music has its roots in psychedelic rock and blues-rock, where the bands created thick, massive sounds. Additionally, the music had highly amplified distortion, emphatic beats, extended guitar solos and overall loudness characterized the music. Klosterman wrote a memoir that captured the essence of music in a personal experience in Fargo Rock City. Chuck Klosterman understood the significance of pop culture and media in occidental society, the memoir by Chuck goes overboard in the attempt to cover the subject of metal in a wider scope.

Ronald Reagan was the 40th presidents of the United States of America, he was an actor. Ronald wanted to be in the entertainment business when he was younger, and he did so by being in more than 50 films. Reagan served in World War II; he had bad eyesight, during his time in the war he sent most of his time making training films. Ronald Reagan became president at the age of 69, he was one of our oldest presidents on record. On March 30, 1981, a 25-year old named John Hinckley Jr. shot Ronald just outside the Washington D.C Hilton Hotel. Three others peoples were also injured in the shooting as well.

Saturday Night Fever, The Bee Gees, disco balls, and all night long dancing might be a couple thing you think of when you think of disco fever. Disco is remembered by all-night parties and it the dancing fever brought with it, but disco was a short lives craze in the 70’s. So how did disco die? Rock fans had a crucial part in the destruction of disco. With the death of disco, punk takes to lead in the world of music. Before the death of disco rock fans and disco fans clashed and the outcome was both good and bad.

Hail the human race, but I never knew a person can gyrate their body part of their body with such vigor and dedication such as I see today. I doubt if whether Elvis Presley were to wake up today he would do a gig with Justin Bieber or Shakira and go home celebrating how they fired up the place. Or would he go home complaining how the song lacked harmony, or they were too synthetic or lacked a particular instrument? I don’t for a second doubt whether The Beatles and Lady Gaga would find common ground when it comes to rebellion and controversy, but would share the same platform. Disappointingly, this new crop of musician will always find a way to get inspired by a Diana Ross, a Michael Jackson, or an Elvis Presley. These are some of the woes I go through when I look at today’s popular music, and they are the reason why I mourn for the good old and gone times of Thriller, and Billie Jean. Almost every decade that passes always comes with a new style of music, but the 1980’s was a period of exponential evolution in the pop industry that has remained unmatched to date.
