Initally, al-Qaeda considered targeting nuclear power plants on 9/11, but decided to go against it because they feared it would get too out of control. Four passenger airlines, all of which departed from airports in the northeastern United States bound for California, were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda members. One plane hit the Pentagon just outside of Washington D.C., the second plane crashed in a field in Pennslyvania, and the last two planes crashed into the Twin Towers. Within one hour and 42 minutes both 110 story towers were completely on the ground, with debris filling the air and fires starting to spread. Numerous other buildings at the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan were destroyed or badly damaged.
9/11: The Day That Changed America Forever On September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists boarded four planes, all transcontinental flights full of jet fuel. 9/11 became the first of many hijackings in the United States. The terrorists turned two flights into flying weapons of destruction, knocking down America’s tallest buildings. The third plane rammed into the Pentagon and the fourth plane was crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. 9/11 became the day that a tragic event killed thousands, injured hundreds and changed America forever.
The terrorist attacks on 9/11 have caused many debates over the years since they occurred back in 2001. Two American planes were hijacked and ran into the twin tower buildings, another was hijacked and headed for the pentagon, but thankfully never made it. Thousands of Americans lost their lives on the days of the attacks and to this day the sorrow hangs with us. Security was a huge debate of the time because America is supposed to be the safest nation there is, so how did this happen? America had lots of changes to make the attacks on September 11, 2001.
4.5. The Pentagon The hole that was left after American Airlines Flight 77 flew into the Pentagon was much smaller than the actual commercial plane. The plane was 125 feet long, however the hole left behind was 16 feet long, which lead a lot of people to question whether it was in fact the plane that crashed into the pentagon or was it hit by a foreign object and was made to look like a plane. 4.6. United Airlines Flight 93 Despite the cockpit recordings implying that the passengers fought, overpowered the terrorist and eventually crashed the plane into the ground, people think that the plane was actually shot down.
Tragedy, and burning flames. Everybody remembers 9/11, and the day the twin towers collapsed into shreds. Bombers in hijacked planes, millions injured, and thousands dead enduringly. The beginning of the ending, 250 people on 4 hijacked planes that changed America forever. Nobody knew, it was a rude awakening.
Similarly, time before 2001's event, the 19 hijacking men took a lot of preparation before the 9/11 attack such as years of training and much flight classes with no suspicion what so ever. It can also be compared that the two events both happened deliberately, intentionally for the United States- ubrupt unforeseen and unpredicted. The two separate attacks also did very much damage to the country. During that attack on Pearl Harbor it damaged 21 ships of the U.S, destroyed 188 airplanes, killed 2,403 Americans and injured 1,178. During 9/11's attack it damaged and destroyed both twin towers in the World Trade Center and the west side of the pentagon killing a total of 2,996 people and injuring over
A small, portable radio was on in the adjoining room where we would count large deposits of money. I heard the announcer say that an airplane had flown into the World Trade Centre and I remember thinking, "is this the end of the World?" and that I wanted to go home to be with my wife. This was the only time in my life when I have seriously thought that it was the end of the World. The plane crash that Friday in September dominated the news on the television, I remember wondering why the destruction of the Twin Towers was so important.
Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes. Two of the planes (American airline flight 11 and united airlines flight 175) Crashed into the north and south towers of world trade center in New York City. One hour and 42 minutes after the crash of the planes both 110 stories towers collapsed resulting fire and the collapsing and damage to the other towers. Including the seven world trade center tower which has 47 stories. It is almost sixteen years since that fear was imposed on us and the age of terror began in earnest.
Just Eleven minutes into the Flight the plane exploded eight miles away from the coast of Long Island then creating from that moment on a national mystery of what had caused the plane to explode (TWA flight 800 crash - Atlantic Ocean off New York:1996 2). Soon after the aircraft was submerged in water and had been seen by many as it went down in flames, water vessels in the surrounding area were able to reach the site within minutes, but soon to be discovered all 230 people had not survived with all bodies being found and 95% of the plane being recovered (McDowell-Smith 1). With all the information before the crash being easily attained the cause for the crash was unknown which leads many to wonder what had actually caused this tragedy. The misfortunate catastrophe of the explosion of Flight 800 brought grief to many which brought people longing for an answer to bring closure
After the bombings, Dresden was a doom town, it was hard to see its beautiful architecture that was said to be the prettiest in the world. Billy fought throughout the war and stayed by his country's side and this shows his strength. The overall gist of this story is not to show a weak man, but to show someone how the war can make you unstuck in time. Billy isn't able to comprehend what is real and what isn't. In Slaughterhouse-Five the death of thousands of people changed the perception negatively of
First Responders James Cross Intro to Homeland Defense Professor Kirchgraber August 30, 2015 Abstract 9/11 is a day that many will never forget. Terrorist high jacked four planes and flew them into predetermined locations. 3000 people died in The World Trade Center alone. Several of these were first responders. First responders were faced with several issues.
9-11 influence me by all of those good Americans who died from the attack. And it also influenced me because I never got to see the world trade center in real life before it was destroyed. And the world trade center is something that I really wanted to see because of how unique it was. The world trade center is now a part of our history and will be in everybody’s hearts forever. Plus, since the attack the united states is too strict in order to do anything.
On this day 4 American planes were hijacked by terrorists. These ¾ planes had hit some pretty important buildings that killed lots of people. The first plane had hit the World Trade Center. The second plane had hit the Twin Towers. The third one hit the Pentagon.
Not only did they lose someone they loved or almost lost their lives, this event affected them long term. Some have medical issues, mental issues, and emotional issues. The citizens of New York were affected severely by the event that happened on September 11, 2001. Out of the 2,606 people that died in the World Trade Center, 1,762 were residents of New York (Statistic Brain Research Institue). People not only died from the explosion of the airplane crashing into the twin towers, but had to make the decision to jump because there was no way out.
As the two planes hit the north and south tower in NY, a plane attempted to hit the Pentagon in DC, the result of the terrorists actions that day were that many families lost loved ones (9/11 Facts). The terrorists piloted the first plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 A.M, the second plane struck the south South Tower 17 minutes later (9/11 facts). More than 400 police officers and
