Competition can be sour at times, though it can be sweet at other times. Competitions are sour when we lose and then competitions are sweet when we win or get in a particular place. Examples of how losing feels are anger, sad, sometimes disappointment while examples of how winning feels are happiness, ambition, sometimes the feeling of being proud. There are many fun types competitions though like eating competitions or racing competitions. Competition improves life because it makes yourself stay focused, work harder, and know that there are other people who try as hard as you. Applying for a job is a competition and so is trying to get into a college or university. Though it is an insight on how there are other people around you who want the same thing as you and work harder than you. Once, I tried out for a soccer team that my sister was in and her and her teammates had been practicing for years. I didn’t make the team, but I could see that I only wanted to be on the team because my sister was on the team, so I wasn’t trying as hard as the girls around me were. Those girls had been trying longer and harder than me and they deserved to be on the team. The quote, “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying”, by Michael Jordan is how many people feel. Especially when a person tries their best and don’t get what they want, but then another person doesn’t try and gets what that person wanted. To other people, it can seem unfair. When my sister was younger, she put one of her drawing into a art competition in school and she got in second place. She wasn’t happy about losing, so she would give the girl who got in first place rude looks in the hallway. The girl who won told the guidance counselor and my sister ended up getting in trouble. My sister made the mistake of not looking and the girl who won’s artwork, which looked like she did her very best and had spent days on the piece. Most people try, though some people try harder to where they have put in all of their energy into what or why they are competing
