Before a Killer Serial killers aren’t born to kill. They were once pure and innocent just like everyone else, it’s the childhood aspect that can mold someone into a normal person or killer. David Berkowitz (also known as “Son of Sam” and “The .44 Caliber killer”) is no exception, having a poor childhood that could have had an impact in turning him into a serial killer. David Berkowitz’s mother Betty Broder was abandoned by her husband Tony Falco, but never got a legal divorce. Eventually Broder got with a man named Joseph Kleinman who was married as well and would be the birth father of Berkowitz. When Berkowitz was born, Kleinman forced Broder to get rid of the baby, so Broder

Although of above-average intelligence, he lost interest in learning at an early age and began an infatuation with petty larceny and pyromania.” So along with being a troublemaker, Berkowitz also committed minor crimes at a young age. To make matters worse, his adoptive mother to whom he had a close relationship with, died while he was at the young age of fourteen. He grew to dislike his adoptive father, mostly due to his dislike for his father’s new wife. In 1941 at the age of eighteen Berkowitz joined the US army, where he served until 1941 when he got an honorable discharge. Shortly after returning from the army, he located his birth mother and with only a few visits, he learn of his illegitimate birth, which did not settle right with Berkowitz. He stop communicating with his birth mother after that. He had many different low tier jobs until he was arrested as a letter sorter for the US postal …show more content…
The couple were in a car at the time of the shooting. When Berkowitz shot Denaro shattering the car window, Keenan panicked, quickly starting the car and speeding off. It is believed that since Denaro had shoulder length hair, he was mistaken for a girl by Berkowitz. Since Keenan’s father was a 20 year police Veteran, an intense investigation was erupted, but hit a dead-end when they couldn’t find a motive, however they were able to determine that the gun was a .44 Caliber Revolver, they just couldn’t trace it to a specific gun due to how shattered the bullets were. Considering that the two crimes were investigated by two different teams, the crimes were not yet linked to one another. Berkowitz’s next shooting took place on November 27, 1976 where he shot, but didn’t kill Donna DeMasi at the age of 16 and Joanne Lomino at the age of 18. They girls just got back from a movie and were hanging out on Lomino’s porch. In order to get near the girls, he pretended he was seeking directions. All three shootings are still yet to be connected by the
If it goes as scheduled, Texas will execute Jeff Wood next Wednesday for the 1996 murder of a gas station store clerk. The problem: It was a murder Wood did not commit. Wood is scheduled to be executed on August 24 for the murder of Kriss Keeran, a store clerk at a Texaco gas station. This is despite the fact Wood was in his car when Keeran was shot, and may have not known about the shooting until after it was too late.
Danny Harold Rolling is also known, as the Gainesville Ripper was an American serial killer who murdered five students at the University of Florida. Danny was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 26th 1954. His dad James was abusive from the start of his birth. His father was also a police officer. The Fleagle Gang was a group of four guys who robbed the First National Bank in Lamar Colorado on may 23, 1930. The leader of the gang's name was Ralph Fleagle, and he was accompanied by his brother and two other friends. They were caught by fingerprint which was the first time the FBI used a single fingerprint to ever solve a crime. When they were caught, most sentenced to hang and died in a two week period in July 1930, but Jake Fleagle was killed in a shootout (The Fleagle Gang). Ralph Fleagle, his brother Jake, Howard “Heavy” Royston, and George J. Abshier, a.k.a.

Carter Hendry Mrs.Dixon Criminal Justice III-7 23 October 2017 Kuklinski Richard Leonard Kuklinski was born on April 11, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey of 1935, and suffered from a tough childhood upbringing. His mother Anna Mcnally was an extremely strict catholic, and regularly hit her son for any “non religious” acts that he committed. His father, Stanley, worked on the railroads and was a deadbeat alcoholic who regularly beat his son. In Kuklinski’s interviews he often contributed his insanity and love for violence to his father. Kuklinski was not only beaten by his father but he was regularly bullied at school which led to his feelings of anger and less power.
This book was first published in 1989 by Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel is a jewish writer who was born in 1928 in Sighetu Marmației, Transylvania, which is apart of Romania. Him and his family were deported by the Nazis to Auschwitz in which him and his two older sisters survived. At first I was selecting a book to get it over with, but after I’ve read the story I started to take interest in it.
Javier Villada was an employee of Millardair, in the early years before the murder, the one truck in Millard’s fleet that could tow that amount of weight was the one that Javier possessed. The police also found photos of guns. These were located on both the pairs phones and personal computers. A gun expert by the name of Christiane Lys has testified to both the judge and jury that the shot was definitely in close range and the gun had to be a Walther PPK .380-calibre handgun. Her evidence matched the photo, police seized from Millard’s home of him holding the same gun.
The Son of Sam killer was born Richard David Falco, but was adopted and his name changed to David Berkowitz. He is responsible for shootings that killed 7 people and injured 8. The first shooting took place July 29, 1976. The two victims that day were Donna Lauria and Jody Valenti. Lauria was killed and Valenti was injured.
As I was watching the interview, I was astonished. I expected Joel Rifkin to be the typical Hollywood serial killer: a deranged man set on revenge, as a result of being abused and neglected, and now was in chains behind glass with armed guards aiming their weapons at his head. Instead, I saw a stoic person who wasn’t behind glass or had a gun to his head. He just sat there and answered questions like a normal person. He wasn’t angry or remorseful.
Jeffrey Dahmer Some troubled youth use acting out and rebellion as a cry for help, but Jeffrey Dahmer decided to murder seventeen people over a thirteen-year period was the way to go. Dahmer did not start off as a murderer, but whether it was genetics or his troubled childhood, he developed into a very mentally disturbed man who then turned homicidal. No one ever suspected that sad and shy Jeffrey down the road had skeletons and human remains in his closet. Having committed acts of murder to cannibalism to necrophilia, Jeffrey Dahmer is now considered to be one of the most twisted and disturbed serial killers to have ever lived.
There are few times in human history where murder was committed with a magnitude comparable to that of the Holocaust. The Holocaust permanently affected human history, especially those who were victims of it. Henryk Mandelbaum was born into a poor Polish family on December 15, 1922 in Olkusz, Poland and in 1940 Mandelbaum’s life changed. Under domination of the Nazis after the invasion of Poland, Mandelbaum’s family was relocated to the Dabrowa Gornicza ghetto where Henryk was separated from his parents who were sent to Sosnowiec. For four years, Henryk went into hiding, avoiding the ghetto, and risked his life smuggling food to the starving Jews inside the ghetto.
Donald Henry Gaskins Jr. is one of the most infamous American Serial Killers to ever be tried in the criminal justice system. He once stated in an interview that “I have the same path as God, by taking lives and making others afraid, I became my own master. Through my own power I come to my redemption” (Menschenleer). This one quote serves to demonstrate the psychotic tendencies which Gaskins developed and suffered from. Gaskins life began with victimization from family members and peers.
Lonnie Franklin was arrested on July 7th, 2010 and charged with 10 accounts of murder and one account of attempt of murder. Beginning in 1985 and ending in 2010, 118 women were reported killed near or in the neighborhood Lonnie Franklin lived in. Although only 118 women were found dead, Lonnie owned over 180 pictures of different women in a variety sexual positions in their undergarments in his house and in his car. Many of the women in the photos were found dead, but where are the ones that weren’t? These killings took place in a poor neighborhood at a time where the vast usage of crack cocaine and the amount of prostitution was mass and ignored by the police because the amount of usage and popularity was apparently too large to even try
He adopted the role father in his family and four years later his mother also passed away which had a deep impact on him. He moved to Vienna to pursue arts in Vienna academy of arts but failed to clear the entrance exam twice. At that time he was poor and had a
Introduction I. Look around this school and think about exactly how many students are here daily. How would you feel if I told you that one out of every twenty five people are sociopaths(Pratt 2006).The fact of the matter is that not everyone who is a sociopath is a serial killer but oddly enough it has been proven that all serial killers are sociopaths. II. I have chosen serial killers that I found intriguing and that I thought not many people would know a lot about.
