“Treating animals with a lot of respect, this is the key”. Dolorosa Margulis has devoted her life to caring for badly treated animals. Before she came to America 34 years ago, Margulis lived in the Netherlands. Growing up she spent most of her time with her animals, she often says that her dogs were her favorite. She carried on that love for the well being of animals all the way to Oregon. After settling into her new american lifestyle, Dolorosa was looking for charity to take part in, to support animal care. At the time the Oregon Humane society was a small non-profit organization, that needed major improvements. As is, the facility was small, cramped, and dirty. The staff used gas compression to euthanize the animals, to make more space for …show more content…
This was one of the biggest life changing experiences during her time working for the shelters in Portland. This was the moment that set her off to start expanding and helping more local shelters. This was all a plan to create a better living situation for all of the animals that were struggling. Once she funded the building of the shelter, animals started to gain respect from the people living in Portland because the animals had a facility that was clean and well managed. People started to see animals as their equals. Margulis was in awe at the progress of the humane society once the new building was built. Many families started to adopt the animals and she reminisced that, “treating animals with a lot of respect, this is the key to all this hard work”. All of her hard work had finally, after years of effort, payed off.
Margulis recalls “I love saving badly treated little beings, that’s the best thing I could hope for”. She believes that although humans are important, not enough respect and care is paid towards animals and helping them is one of the best things she could do for the community. Creating a better environment for the animals was really beneficial to, “create the kind of society that makes people care about the animals”. She hopes that the humane society will continue to house animals,

She also gave speeches and lectures about what others could do in order to help and protect ones less fortunate. Despite her older age, she continued to show others how selfless she was and how proved just how devoted she was to improving as many people’s lives as she could. She put almost all her time, energy, and heart into countless humanitarian causes and gradually became a known symbol of charity and self-sacrifice. She was so generous and kind-hearted that she never took a pay for her job as president of the American Red Cross. Instead, she often used the money to support people involved in disasters.
Every year in Africa many elephants and giraffes are euthanized because they get too comfortable around humans, putting the human species in danger. Lennie can be compared to these animals because he gets too comfortable around people such as Curley’s wife, or
They are objects one minute, beloved pets the next, remote then humanlike. Animals are objects that must be hunted fattened, harvested, slaughtered, and processed into meat and clothing. Simultaneously, people nurture their darling pets, call them by name, include them in their families, please them with plentiful food and luxurious accommodations and mourn them when they die[8]. People advocated for pets. They sought to speak for and protect as they were beloved.
In her work “What’s Wrong with Animal Rights,” Vicki Hearne challenges common beliefs of animal rights, arguing that animal rights groups do very little to actually benefit animals. She argues that natural selection should be allowed to take place for wild animals, and animals such as cats and dogs should not be seen as property. To persuade the audience to support her position, she uses ethos, pathos, and logos. Her credibility as a trainer makes the logic behind her views reliable, her logic reinforces the examples she uses, and she appeals to emotion using her relationship with her Airedale, Drummer, to support everything her argument is saying. Through these strategies, Vicki Hearne effectively counters the current, popular views of the

Remembering what to do in certain situations and which instruments to use was another hard part”. Carmen suggested to learn to love animals, she also mentioned how she grew up on a farm and said it all started on a small farm in a small town wanting to know more about animals. she told me how to put an animal down which was very descriptive. Some advice carmen gave me was to go to a veterinarian office and shadow a veterinary technician. She said that her son is going to shadow a dentist for his future.
She spent about 10 years guiding slaves to flee to Canada. During this act more than 38 slaves were ordinarily disenthrall from hard labor. During this rescue mission “she made most of her trips in and around December when the nights were long and fewer people were out.” (doc B), she was extremely cautious about her acts. Although, all four acts were all as important, the least important one was care-giving.
As a result of her efforts in persuading the U.S. government over thirty mental hospitals were established across the state. Her work changed how society perceived, cared and treated the mentally ill today. Because of her advocacy today, people with intellectual and development disabilities are accepted in public school, and living in communities without any shame. Some of them are able to lead independent lives in the community without paid supports. Others live in group homes with minimal supervision, and a small percentage might have serious, lifelong

Animal Lives Matter Animals are dying from millions of subjected tests every day. All these helpless animals can do is be used and wait till they are no use to us anymore. It is pretty sad one day it’s going to get to the point where the people test on ourselves. Just because scientists or college students need to find a cure for a disease or just simply anything does not mean we need to sacrifice the poor animals in this horrible way. Now there are only three main things to talk about which is people need to know how many animals have been tested on, the drugs that have been used on them and what to do to stop animal testing.
So many animals roam the streets. These poor creatures stroll around alone, cold, hungry, and petrified. Because of the overpopulation, animal control must step in. They at times, forcefully snatch up these beings, and load them into trucks. Those dogs and cats, then get taken to shelters.
