How Did Elvis Presley's Impact On Society

“I may not look good tonight, but I’ll look good in my coffin,” Elvis Presley states on the night of his last concert. For many years, people have debated about whether Elvis is still living or not. This theory cannot explain to people if he still is living or not. Unless people change their belief on this, they will continue to have the trouble accepting whether Elvis is still alive or dead. Many people feel that Elvis faked his death because people found many things that were suspicious with the cover up, Elvis had lots of look-alikes to cover him up, and Elvis had many reasons to want a different life.

"Satchmo," "Pops," and "Ambassador Satch" were names for an outstanding jazz artist that inspired many. He was one of the most important musicians in jazz. He helped to transform the traditional New Orleans style into a completely different form of jazz. Louis Daniel Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana in a very poor neighborhood. His father, a laborer, abandoned the family when he was young, and his mother was an irresponsible single parent. She left Armstrong and his sister in the care of their grandmother(Source C). Tupac Shakur was born in New York on June 16, 1971 to Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland. His mom was in jail for doing drugs and his father had nothing to do with him until he was an adult. Tupac went to the Baltimore School for the Arts. Tupac took ballet and dance classes.

James Mercer Langston Hughes was the first African American to achieve national prominence, and the figure of such stature in the black community. His influence and ideas were inescapable, as he saw himself as a poet for an entire nation. Hughes role model, Walt Whitman helped to give him the ideas of the optimistic vision of America and how to achieve and accomplish some of the things he did in his life. Langston Hughes inspired many people and expressed the African American spirt and soul in his works.

Elvis Presley has had more impact on American society and culture than any other person in history for the three following reasons; his large contribution to the start of the generation gap in the 1950’s, his huge impact on rock ‘n’ roll music, and finally, his music opened a door for some integration between races.

He attended the Assembly of God with his parents; gospel music became an important influence on him. He received his first guitar as a gift on his eleventh birthday instead of a bicycle because his parents could not afford to buy one. Elvis’ first taste of musical success was when he won the talent show at his high school, Humes High School, in Memphis. In 1953, he graduated and became the first in his immediate family to earn a high school diploma. After graduating, he worked as a mechanist, but soon he would get his big break in the music industry and acting business.

Although Michael Jackson was a controversial figure; he will ultimately be remembered for his fantastic singing ability and incredible dancing style. Michael Jackson was an incredible singer and a generous volunteer. Not only did he change the music world he also had an effect on society. He captivated the world with his dancing and fashion. He inspired many people in the singing industry right now. Those are only a few of the things he did.

The Beatles and more specifically John Lennon had an immense impact on society throughout the 1960s to the 1980s. The Beatles affected society with their music by bringing about an age where experimentation with drugs, sex and hallucinogens (previously taboo) became the norm. They were also very popular amongst the new hippie counter culture as they too were anti-war and shared continuity with the ideals of the band. They served as examples and leaders not only to the hippies and other youth movements, but also to the youth of society in general. The Beatles and their music redefined the rules of society. They started new and innovative trends of experimentation with sex and started the idea of using drugs for recreation. They promoted peace and opened up capitalist society to the idea of socialism. These are all major themes which have forever altered the course of future societies and are themes that are still massive influences on our societal decisions today!

Martin Luther King Jr. had a big impact on us during the 1950s and 1960s. He spoke out against racial discrimination and delivered the “I Have a Dream…” speech to end, or at least try, to put a stop to segregation. Though he never got to fulfill his “dream” of seeing our nation become free of racism (because he was shot on April 4, 1968), he does still have an impact on us today. Here’s why.

Focusing specifically on the opposition of racial segregation, The Civil Rights movement symbolized the need for change across America. Between the years of 1950 and 1960, events such as; the March on Washington, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, speeches, protests, and sit-ins, directly defined such opposition. Due to such events, two outstanding leaders of their time, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X emerged into the public eye and began to impact the Civil Rights movement. At a turning point of the century, the two men took charge and became icons across the world while resonating significantly with African American minorities. With such in mind, the two men had extreme differences in their morals, ideals, and religions; however, both deemed
