Frank and Lillian Gilbreth did many studies using time and motion procedures, but the study that caught my attention was their impact on the flow of operating rooms. This idea started in 1914 when the Gilbreth’s wrote an article about improvement strategies for nurses. Hospital design, medical equipment, and patient records were areas that the Gilbreth’s first focused on.
