George Soros is one of the world’s foremost philanthropists, having given away more than $12 billion to various charities and organizations to date. His funding has supported individuals and firms across the world fighting for accountable governments, transparency and freedom of expression for societies that promote equality and justice. George Soros giving has always focused on discrimination.
Born in Hungary in 1930, he lived through the Nazi occupation of 1944-5 which led to the murder of over 500,000 Hungarian Jews. Private donors always give to policy focused nonprofits, the Soros Open Societies Foundation, for example works on drug policy and criminal justice reforms. Thanks to long-term planning and candidate recruitment Soros local prosecutor campaigns will intensify in the next few years.
Over the years, Soros has supported lawyers and paralegals representing thousands of unlawfully held individuals. He has provided school and university fees to thousands of promising students from marginalized groups.
