All of the things they did influenced events up to the writing of the Constitution, they’re desire to create a strong and powerful form of government for the United States gave them ideas for the Constitution. Some of the more powerful leaders that had a greater contribution to this country and the writing of the Constitution were James Madison, George Washington and John Adams. These men, had helped craft what we now follow and because of that, America is in the shape it is.

Like many great leaders who inspired their followers, “Washington valued the people he led rather than thinking of them as means to an end” (Stallard). Washington’s soldiers knew that he respected them and saw them as equals, and that he would experience the severe hardships like they did. His humility was reflected in the way he gave people a voice by seeking and considering their opinions and ideas. The historical representation present a leader who inspires confidence in the people who followed him. George Washington, like all effective leaders, communicated with his people and had always valued their opinions on matters concerning them. Under his leadership the colonists ended up defeating the British military who were heavily trained and resourced. His leadership inspired others to make a change, take care of others and to model what behavior they want to see in
In the book of His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis, the author introduces Washington, the Father of the United States, in a fresh portrait focused on the characters of Washington. This book is an impressive biography of Washington's remarkable dedication to the United States history. According to the author, George Washington is an omnipresent figure as he was growing up, described as the man in the moon who was aloof and silent. This book focuses on Washington's wartime service which became some of his major contributions to the United States, rather than merely telling the true story of Washington, its main thesis is focusing on analyzing his contributions and how his governorship had affected the American history. Washington's life is divided into three areas in this book.
In May of 1787, fifty-five delegates from eleven of the thirteen American states came together in Philadelphia. The goal that they had was to fix and improve the current government created by the Articles of Confederation, which had been occurring since the year of 1781. The Articles created a weak alliance among the states. There was nothing that the national government could do about the taxes or regulate commerce. The delegates whom attended the Philadelphia convention had came to agreement that there were issues in the Articles of Confederation that needed to be fixed.
The Convention met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from May 14 to September 17. As said before, Washington had to be persuaded to be a part of the convention. James Madison and General Henry Knox were the ones who were able to convince Washington to be a part of the convention. Both Madison and Knox believed that Washington needed to play a significant role because of the honorable respect and trust he had gathered throughout the war. George Washington, after the war, was a firm believer of building or creating a stronger national government for the country.
Washington was a genius on the battlefield and came up with helpful tactics. He also obtained the ability to keep his struggling army together. Washington not only lead his army, but guided, directed and motivated them to persevere and keep going.
In May 25, 1787, a convention was called in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to express the purpose of revising the Articles of Confederation. However, the intention from many delegates was to draft a new constitution; create a new government rather than fix the existing one. Rhode Island was the only one of the 13 original states to refuse to send delegates to the Constitutional Convention. At the Convention, the first issues they had to address was the representation in Congress.
The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25th, 1787 to September 17th, 1787 in the city of Philadelphia. The official purpose of the convention was to amend the articles of Confederation/ how the country was going to be governed. Although the convention had been called for revising the Articles of Confederation, two delegates (James Madison and Alexander Hamilton) wanted to make a totally new government. Seventy delegates from each original state were supposed to come to the Constitutional Convention, but only 55 out of the 70 arrived. The first two months of debating were only about the 15 points of the “Virginia Plan” that James Madison thought of to replace the Articles of Confederation.
James Madison once said, "[the Constitution was not] the offspring of a single brain." This is true, however, Madison, who is known as the Father of the Constitution, certainly played a huge role in its writing and ratification. In fact if he had not written the Federalist Papers the Constitution might not have been passed. Also, it was he who suggested the use of a three branch government.
In the early government of the states, under the Articles of the Confederation, there was a unicameral system in place. The articles provided for an annual appointment of delegates to the congress. After much research, James Madison wanted to make a change to this system. He believed that a good government was only possible under a strong central government. He planned to sell his ideas at the annual convention in 1787.
The United States of America has been fortunate with getting unbelievable leaders in our past starting with George Washington. He has led our Nation to victory and our independence along with being amazing president. George Washington was an incredible leader during the American Revolution and it is proven by the viewpoints of the loyalists, patriots, and their similarities. George Washington placed enemies right where anyone would want them even if he did it on purpose or not. To explain, at the beginning of the war the loyalists viewed George Washington viewed him as a weak, unskilled leader because he lost majority of the battles.
The United States of America was built on freedom, liberty, and exploration. It was able to accomplish these things because of men who were revered and unafraid. Many of these men belonged to Masonic Lodges. The father of the United States, George Washington, was a mason in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Founding father Benjamin Franklin became a mason in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In May 1787 55 delegates met in Philadelphia to amend the Articles Of Confederation. They debated about the New Jersey plan and Virginia plan. The states also ratified on how they need the bill of rights. Then they argued about slavery. Many things helped shape the Articles Of Confederation such as how they talked about representation, The states ratification, and slavery.
Virginia Plan was created by James Madison but presented to the Constitutional Convention by Edmund Randolph, Governor of Virginia in the year of 1787. The Virginia Plan was about a new form of government and called for the number of votes each state would receive would be based on the population instead of each state receiving just one vote. James Madison and other 56 delegates met in Philadelphia in May 1787, they wanted to make amendments in the Articles of Confederation. They were successful and managed to create a new constitution and as James Madison was representing Virginia, he had become the chief recorder of information. Virginia Plan served as that basis for debate in the development of the U.S. Constitution.
He joined the Continental Army with his soldiers, donated $200,000 and raised funds. He also helped the Patriots to defeat the British in Virginia during 1780-1781. The significance was how the Americans inspired others.
During the Revolutionary War, America needed a leader. He possessed the perfect mix of qualities, such as “patience, self-discipline, administrative abilities, willingness to work hard, and faith in the American caus.” His troops were green and lacked supplies and cohesiveness, but
The founding fathers were smart men who the world looked up to because of their smart decisions, actions, that directed the U.S. to what it is today. But sadly in today’s society most people either have forgotten the things they did for us, or they just do not care. The founding fathers were great men who led this country to victory in war and on the political front. And often early U.S. history is portrayed as moving smoothly for the colonies turning into the a country of its own , but in reality it was just the opposite. George Washington our first president had problems figuring out ways to control the new nation as it progressed under his leadership.
