Before Jefferson entered the presidential office he was a states rights supporter and when the tax on whiskey was placed he opposed it, saying “The first error was to admit it by the Constitution.” (Doc A). He didn’t like the constitution because of the fact that it would make central government stronger. When the alien act was passed he was opposed to it and said that the central government should only have a set of specific purposes and the leftover purposes should be left to the states individually. (Doc B) Determining the amount of time it takes to be a citizen, and the ability to jail people opposing the government was too much power to Jefferson. When he came into office he realized the necessity for more central power and took more matters into his own hands, he had become a loose constructionist.
George Washington was indispensable in launching the U.S government. Although many opposed his political views at the time, Washington's leadership capabilities were unquestionable after his victory in the American Revolution. Our victory over Great Britain would have been doubtful if not for Washington and his judgement. Before becoming president, Washington led in drafting the Constitution, which is the foundation of America. When he became president, Washington believed in unity and a strong central power.
He lived in the north during the civil War but but yet he still didn’t agree with Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln's assassination was not justified because he freed slaves and he was a great leader. Abraham Lincoln’s assassination was unjustified because he freed slaves. In 1863 Abraham makes his final proclamation frees slaves. At the end of the war he officially ended slavery in America.
The Whiskey Rebellion occurred during the presidency of George Washington. Farmers who sold their corn in the form of whiskey had to pay a new tax which they strongly resented. The tax was a part of Alexander Hamilton's program to pay off the national debt. To quell the Whiskey Rebellion George Washington sent an excessive amount of 15, 000 troops to western Pennsylvania. Wood also fails to mention the Proclamation of Neutrality George Washington created to force the United states to remain neutral between the affairs of Britain and France.
Thus, the slaves were happy to be alive, but the slave owners felt like their liberty was taken away (Lincoln). President Lincoln had to make the best decision for the country, even if he did not satisfy the interests of both groups. Presidents should not appeal to majorities nor minorities, but overall, make the best decision for the country as seen with George Washington, as well as Abraham Lincoln. Each knew what was best in the end and that is what made him a great leader. If the government continues to apply filters of consent, prevent majority factions, and let the president make their own verdicts for the country, we will all be better
Andrew Jackson supported states rights and the expansion of slavery to the West. He also had a role in the forced relocation of the Native Americans West of the Mississippi River. Some people would consider Andrew Jackson to be a great president because he did things like revolutionizing presidential campaigning. He also used the power to veto bills that he saw unfit. Some people would say that Andrew Jackson was a terrible president because he made the Indians move and he abused the power to veto to try and take more control over congress.
Even as the war proceeded, he was reluctant to make the decision because he feared that it might bring about more chaos than the current state of the United States during the Civil War. In his paper, professor Krug wrote, “Lincoln issued the Proclamation primarily from military necessity and that he was influenced little, if at all, by considerations of justice, freedom and morality”. At this point of the war, it was clear that the Union needs more manpower and constituents’ support. Furthermore, a boost in morale among the African American population was abundant in the effort to fight against the Confederate which is the motivation for President Lincoln to produce the
Lincoln also had to ensure that foreign countries did not come to the aid of the south during the Civil War and the effort to free the slaves. Britain and France were Lincoln’s biggest concern when it came to solving diplomatic problems. British manufacturers and shippers made huge profits off the war so the lack of cotton coming into Britain was a small inconvenience in comparison. The war effort lasted longer then anyone could’ve imagined. Lincoln needed fresh troops for the Union army, so he signed the Enrollment Act into law.
The American Dream is shown being influenced by social when big figures talk about their American dreams being influenced by people, opportunities, and finally when First, when big figures, such as the president, talk about their American dreams they talk about other people and how America helped him shape and achieve his/her American dream. In Obama’s speech
This tariff was established by President John Quincy Adams to help the economy in the United States. They said it violated the constitution so they nullified it. President Jackson tried to address this issue by revising the tariff, which was the Tariff of 1832, which the residents of South Carolina thought would help them, but did nothing for them. They again nullified this tariff. What President Jackson did was he made the Force Bill which stated that the president can deploy military forces into South Carolina.
The founding fathers put into the constitution everything that would benefit themselves and protect their financial standpoints. The Constitutional Convention was one of the most momentous occurrences in United States Constitutional history. The point of the constitutional convention is decide how America is going to be governed. The guys that contributed to it are James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. The people that were at high rank at the time.
Huckabee has the experience that is needed to be president. He has great ideas that will improve the government 's systems. He lead his state to prosperity and he would do the same to the United States as president. Graham has great military background and political experience. “He was awarded the Bronze Star in 2014 for meritorious service for his role as a senior legal adviser to the Air Force during combat operations in Afghanistan.” He has been in politics for many years and this enables him to make great political decisions.
For example, it would have benefited both the North and the South, it would have stopped the Civil War from happening, and even though many people say the South wasn’t at a place to make its own decisions I think we would have been fine. If the South was allowed to secede both countries would have advanced more. The South probably would not be in debt because the North was paying people and the North wouldn’t have to pay for Southern expenses. The North could’ve had their own President and the South wouldn’t care because we were independent and Abraham Lincoln was a main reason the South wanted to secede. Also, the North could fight their own wars and the South didn’t have to get involved because the North had many disputes with other countries but the South could save their army without the North using it. The South could have been a successful nation without the
Booth assassinated president Lincoln t at Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C in 1864. The 16th president was assassinated for doing his job. The assassination was unjust because he was so great to his country. By preserving the union during the civil war. Which eventually led to the freeing of the slaves ; the Emancipation Proclamation.
Abraham was President during the time of the Civil War. The Civil war was a dispute that would 've torn the country in half if it were 'nt for Abraham. Abraham also would hire people of the opposing political party into his cabinet, he would do this so he could see the opposing argument, this was a key factor in what made him such a strong leader. Truly the thing we as Americans remember most about Abraham Lincoln is that he sought out his entire presidency to abolish slavery. Lincoln played a major role in getting the 13th, 14th, and 15th
