Poe began writing outstanding stories and poems and entered a competition that would impact his life as a writer. In 1835, Poe ultimately got a job as an editor for a newspaper company because of a contest he won with his story, “The Manuscript Found in a Bottle”. (A Short Biography of Edgar Allan Poe).
