Islam is the second largest growing religion in the world. It serves as a means of life to 6.5 billion believers of that faith. As the story unfolds we will learn what Muhammad's position in the Islamic religion meant. Muhammad was born in Mecca, the center of the Islamic faith in Saudi Arabia. In the year of 610 a.d Muhammad started to undergo a series of revelations from Allah (Arabic term meaning “The God”) These revelations stayed persistent throughout the span of his life to 673 a.d. Muhammad then communicated to his fellow acquaintances a message that was short and simple: “Allah is the one God...all people should submit” With Muhammad’s start of influencing people to accept Allah, the people of Mecca were not pleased due to the fact that Muhammad was disapproving the theory that the “ka’ba” housed many different gods. Acceptance of Allah being the only God, Mecca would have had posed unfavorable impact on their economy due to pilgrims who often visited the city. …show more content…

Muhammad and a few followers he was able to convert moved to a city that is current day known as Medina. The growing Muslim community started in Medina which contains the three oldest mosques. Eventually by 630 a.d Muhammad was able to win over Mecca to Islam.
