“The British are coming! The British are coming!” are the famous words Americans know from tales. Paul Revere was born on New Year's Day in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of Apollo Rivoire and a second generation American. His father taught him everything he knew about being an artisan. After Paul got the hang of being the best, his father died. Revere continued with being a silversmith, but he joined several groups such as the Sons Of Liberty. “ In our mind’s eye we tend to see Paul Revere at a distance, mounted on horseback, galloping through the dark of night.”(Fischer 3). Many historians have arguments about if he was a significant figure to the patriot cause in the American Revolution. This made him an important contributor because he was know to be a great person. The Sons of Liberty and other patriot groups put their trust in him and they gave him huge responsibilities. Not only did this show how good Revere’s character was, it also showed his personal motivation to help and lead.
Paul Revere was a man that wanted to keep thing the same but he knew that the King and Parliament were not being fair. He supported the revolution but he was a moralist. Paul was “consumed with personal ambition; and yet he was devoted to his community,” (Fischer 5). Even though Revere was a conservative, he wanted to help his community. He like taking on the risk of the revolution and loved to support the patriots but never thought twice about his beliefs. He was motivated by his morals and his desire to lead the his community to the right
