Because of Militarism many countries grew their armies which led to tension between countries about having strenght and power due to their army sizes. 3. Imperialism was most likely the third cause of the war because Germany and Italy wanted to have a colonial empire which led to conflict and disputes about land ownership because having more land equals having more power and wealth. 4. Alliances helped cause the war because nations would be against each other and they would also want to be dominant. Although there were many reasons that caused World War I, Militarism, Imperialism, and Allies were the main factors.
Due to their stubbornness, millions of people had to pay the price with their lives. In conclusion, three main reasons caused the United States to join the horrifying effects of World War I. These three events were the sinking of the merchant ship Lusitania, the Zimmermann Telegram, and the sinking of several U.S ships. All of these events were caused by Germany to further anger the United States.

The main similarity in the causes of both wars was imperialism, but the main difference was that WWII had appeasement; the main similarity in the effects of both wars was that there were many political tensions leftover that caused another war, but the main difference was that after WWII, the United Nations (UN) was created.
