Did the Board of education violate Mrs. Pettit right to privacy in my opinion no? Mrs. Pettit and her husband were a member of a swinger's club which promoted diverse sexual activities, and unfortunately for Mrs. Pettit, an undercover officer from the Los Angeles Police department was investigating the Swinger's club. Although this was a private party, the officer observed Mrs. Pettit engaging in three separate acts of oral copulation with three different men. Mrs. Pettit arrested due to violating Penal Code section 288a (oral copulation), which is illegal in California ( ). After the arrest Mrs. Pettit pleaded guilty to a plea bargain of outraging public decency. Once Mrs. Pettit pleaded guilty to a lesser charge it then became open to the …show more content…
The teacher looked at as exemplars a person children are likely following Mrs. Pettit indiscreet unlawful act is why the school board deems her unfit to teach at a public school. I do agree with them to a certain extent. To continue teaching at the elementary school could be a risk factor. The advanced technology and the internet student can access information about Mrs. Pettit criminal case detailing her misconduct because now it's public record of her committing a crime. Teachers looked at as role models and why I feel Mrs. Pettit should not be allowed to teach at her current school. When I analyzed the issue it was right to suspend her teaching credentials, but for a short period and a few ethics classes. Reinstated of credentials after that time has ended and completion of course. Mrs. Pettit was proven to be a good teacher and banned from teaching for a lifetime doesn't seem …show more content…
When a person's decided to be a teacher it's mostly because of a teacher they once knew that influence them in some way or another, whether they became a Doctor, Lawyer or even a farmer, their teacher, influence most likely made an impact. A teacher profession comes with a lot of responsibility and accountability so what a teacher does outside of work indeed matter, especially when it's an elementary or middle school teacher. Children are so impressionable and are shaped and molded by what they observe and hear from those they look to as role models. Young children dream, and aspiration can easily be crushed if their perception of the person they most trusted isn't what they perceived them to

Why or why not? The principal is not overreacting to Ann's statement because when it happened, nothing was done about it, consequently, after it leaked and caused a negative reaction among colleagues then Watt recommended a dismissal. Watt must also assure that both procedural and substantive requirements are met before dismissing Ann. "School officials may not penalize or otherwise discriminate against teachers for the proper execution of their First Amendment right" (Essex, 2012, p. 218).
In the article, “LSU Professor Fired for Profanity and Sex Jokes, Sparking Free Speech Outcry,” the author Riley Griffin writes to illustrate a unique but uncomfortable situation involving former Louisiana State University professor Teresa Buchanan: A tenured professor at LSU since 2002 - and an elementary education professor prior to her termination - Teresa Buchanan found herself at the unemployment line after an internal investigation by the LSU board of supervisor, in respond to complaints registered by students about Buchanan’s profanity and impropriate comments during class, found Teresa Buchanan guilty of using the F word during class to incite the attention of students; and guilty of making obscene jokes in reference to how active consensual sex activities between husband and wife will decline overtime during the life span of the marriage. The board also concluded that Teresa Buchanan have committed sexual harassment, an act that created a hostile environment
We still would have taken the same actions. " She further said "If the family is willing to give us written permission, we would be happy to share with the public the other side of the story so they can understand the actions we took”, in other words, Lesley Weaver claims that this matter was not a matter of Islamophobia, but a matter of proper protocol. So from what Weaver tells us, the Irving school district did not fail to follow proper procedure in regards to situations like Ahmed’s and that the school should not be held accountable for any mistakes outside the school, apart in which did not make sense was that the school district decided to fire the teacher. If the school district claimed that what the school did was the right thing to do… then why would the school district take the time to search and fire the teacher. It is as if they were trying to hide the truth with lies, which leds to the question of whether or not Islamophobia was
Based on the article, Julie Rogers-Martin a teacher at East Lake Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia felt she was a bad teacher because her students was not scoring as well on the state’s standardized test as the other teacher’s students. Even students that had new teachers scored higher than Rogers-Martin. Executives held her up as a model, applauding her classroom administration aptitudes and utilization of innovation and showcasing her class to folks and directors. A report was done which found that bamboozling happened as ahead of schedule as 2001 and that rehashed notices were disregarded by those high up in the Atlanta educational system.
Jason Dunlap was discriminated against through the terms and conditions of his employment by the LaMark Elementary school. After his announcement to undergo a sex change, Dunlap’s resignation was order by the majority of the school board and faculty. Dunlap was threatened by a co-worker to “leave our school or you’ll be sorry,” therefore, subjecting Dunlap to a hostile work environment that was inadequate for an employee in his situation. In addition, Dunlap was a victim of angry protests lead by members of the community, discriminating against his lifestyle. The school’s failure to recognize the hostile workplace constitutes as discrimination against Jason Dunlap because of his sex.
It also means that he could help students achieve even greater heights. Annenberg Institute and University of Missouri says that the relationships between students and teachers are crucial to how much effort a student puts into their schoolwork. They say that it can promote a student’s academic behavior and push them to do better. Students are also more likely to learn when they feel cared for, positive student teacher relationships can also affect both students and teachers behaviors. It may also help students who may not have parental figures find one in the teacher helping guide them in life when they’re actual parents couldn’t.
It may seem a little invasive, but schools are permitted to use drug dogs to sniff out contraband during unannounced, random searches and it becomes a controversial problem for all. The use of drug-sniffing dogs in schools is permitted because students do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the school and school search did not go against the Fourth Amendment, which is the right of people to be secure in their personal spaces houses and papers. While drug dogs are becoming more and more commonplace in our public schools and to maintaining a drug-dog program can cost district estimates $12,000 and $36,000 every year. Drug dog must go through a long period of time of training and drug dogs are not dangerous to people, but instead it protects people. Without reservation, we must know the history background, advantages, and disadvantages of having a drug dog searches.

INTRODUCTION Self-fulfilling prophecy: Merton’s definition: The self-fulfilling prophecy is, in the beginning, a false definition of the situation evoking a new behavior which makes the original false conception come true. This specious validity of the self-fulfilling prophecy perpetuates a reign of error. For the prophet will cite the actual course of events as proof that he was right from the very beginning. APPLICATIONS:
Since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005, 4,500 public school teachers were fired in the city. The storm is the cause of this city’s struggling public schools system. Also, the public schools population has dropped dramatically. In 2010, studies found 4,000 teens, which is about 10 percent of the city’s student population not even enrolled in school (Vanacore 1). The city has fired 7,500 unionized teachers and other school employees, predominately African American women (Shaw 1).
It has been shown by those who cherish their Second Amendment that the school walkouts are mostly due to two things; kids wanting to ditch class (who didn 't while growing up?) and the anti-gun lobby working to make it happen. It is rarely based on hardly any of the children really knowing anything about guns at all. Today, as New London kindergarteners show, this is clearly the case, as reported by NBC CT. "We love school! We love school," chanted the Connecticut students in a video posted on Facebook.

Rights and Responsibility of a U.S Citizen Though people often confuse the rights and responsibilities of a citizen, they are both two different things. According to Brainpop (n. d.) “a right is a freedom that is protected, such as the right to free speech and religion. A responsibility is a duty or something you should do, such as recycling or doing your homework.” The difference can therefore be observed in the fact that the right is something the law protects you with, while the responsibility is something the law requires you to fulfill. The right should not make someone forget that they have responsibilities.
Profession of a teacher takes its roots in the Ancient Greece. Any society can 't survive without a teacher. The history of education started with the history of all humankind. Many societies don 't simply consider the basic goal of a teacher to teach literacy, but also to pass the knowledge of the life experience, traditions , cultures to younger generations. Teachers remind us parents who connect the generations.
