The wars that Europe was in during the 18th century had affected the colonies. The leaders in Britain had fought over land and all the riches of the world. There were several series of wars that involved England and the French. By the end of the 17th century, it had become obvious that the Spanish rule in North America had become lacking and would recede. This also applied to the Dutch, because they had lacked backbone in North America.
However originally both areas had very different and distinctive identities. Although they have numerous differences their characteristics resulted from one important factor, which is, the reason the settlers came to the New World. This had an impact on the settlement, economically, socially, and politically. Settlements in the Chesapeake region included Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the New Jerseys. In the Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican time period in history, there were many groups of Native Americans that had diverse cultures and societies. The technological and intellectual advancements in these societies, depended on where they were located in Mesoamerica. The Native Americans discovered many things that could help them live an advanced and satisfying life. Each tribe had different necessities and objects that they needed in order to survive. The Native American cultures in these areas had various developments that the different European cultures could use to make themselves more powerful and become strong enough to annihilate many of the Native American cultures.
Changes in Land Changes in the Land: Indians, Colonists, and the Ecology of New England deeply examine several changes that occurred in the new land after invasion made by colonists. Thus, changes affected not only the people but also the environment. The shift of dominance from Indian dominance to European dominance stated in the book. Moreover, the effect of this dominance on the environment and culture of the original inhabitants and most of them coming from Indian origin is stated by Cronon. There are a few life-changing events that change the course of history. One of these such events was the Columbian Exchange which was the transfer of plants, animals, and people between the Americas and the Old World. This began when Columbus landed in America. This one event had many lasting effects, including the spread of diseases to the new world, enslavement of Africans for labor, and economic opportunity with the massive increase in silver. From the time between 1776 and 1870, the United States developed into a country expanding across North America from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. This thus makes it hard to give a definite timetable for the terms. Making that one looks for the meaning of the term, which is often more than just one definition. Modernism is either a new idea that provokes or has an original technique (Butler 4). Thus, music would be meant to be modernist once it changes from an earlier technique or provokes the old ideas. While modernism is the idea of something new, Ronald Schleifer notes modernism as “the felt need to rethink and redefine received conceptions of aesthetic modernism in the particularly American context of the rapid urbanization of the United States” (3).
The first permanent settlements established by the English in the Americas. The first permanent settlements like the Chesapeake area colonies, the Carolinas, the Puritan New England settlements and the Mid-Atlantic colonies but better known as the northern, middle and southern colonies, all differed in politics, religion, economics and social issue. Although they all differed in the above, they all had one thing in common, they were religious. With different beliefs but religious. I will compare and contrast the differences between the colonies and what made each colony distinct from the other.
