The Colombian Exchange had a negative effect on history because of diseases, slavery, and many people died. The Colombian Exchange was the spread of non-native plants, animals, and diseases from Europe to the Americas back and forth. The British settlement encouraged people to go over to the new colonies and discover new lands, which are the Africa, Asia, and some of the Western Hemisphere. But what they didn’t know was that they have adapted to different diseases and new diseases could kill many people.
