Did the forces of love contribute more to Romeo’s death? Or did the forces of hatred have a stronger influence? Or both? I think that love and hatred were both strong and apparent causes of Romeo’s fate. I believe that if he had never met Juliet, or if he and Juliet’s families had never fought, that he probably wouldn't have died at such a young age. I think that love had a major influence on Romeo’s fate because if he had never fallen so deeply in love with Juliet, he would have never had a reason to commit suicide. If he had never gone to the masquerade party he would have never met her at all. “Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in pray’r. O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do, They pray– grant thou, lest faith turn to despair. Saints do not move though grant for prayers’ sake. Then move not …show more content…
If their families had never fought, the Friar wouldn’t have had to make the sleeping potion for Juliet, and Romeo wouldn’t have mistaken her slumber for her death. Romeo and Juliet also wouldn’t have had to sneak around to see each other. They would have been able to see each other whenever they wanted if there wasn’t so much hate between the two families. “And that the lean abhorred monster keeps Thee here in the dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee, And never from this palace of dim night Depart again. Here, here will I remain With worms that are thy chambermaids; O, here Will I set up my everlasting rest,” (Shakespeare 5.3. 105-111.) I strongly believe that Romeo was also jealous that death had a hold on Juliet but he couldn’t. I also strongly believe that jealousy falls in the same category as hate, since jealousy is usually a tremendously negative thing that can cause a lot of problems between people. Romeo hates the fact that death is holding Juliet so he decides to join her, so that he can take her back from
Romeo and Juliet fight for their love despite the rivalry, but their love is doomed from the start. Both lovers die at the end of the play. Misfortune after misfortune leaves many dead and many full of grief, and there is only one person who is to blame for the heartbreaking ending of the play: Romeo. Although Romeo’s actions appear to be that of a lovesick
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is about the two families whose long-standing hatred led to the deaths of Romeo, the son of Montague, and Juliet, the daughter of Capulet. Even though there families have an ancient grudge they fell in love. After meeting they soon married but did not tell their families in fear of being separated. Soon after they married a chain of events lead to the death of them both which in some ways is there fault because both of them committed suicide, Romeo because he thought Juliet was dead and Juliet after she realized that Romeo had died. I think it is not Romeo and Juliet that are most responsible for the their death but Friar Lawrence and the disease in Mantua that kept Romeo from receiving a letter from Friar
Romeo knew he could not have Juliet’s heart because of a “greater power than we can contradict”(DBQ: Project, 2013). The treacherous fate did not stop the strong feelings between Romeo and Juliet, however fate did win the battle of love. Romeo and Juliet’s love were destined to crumble. Everything terrible that happened to them was for a reason, fate caused Romeo to fall in love with his families greatest enemy. Fate also caused Romeo to find Juliet after she had drunk the sleeping potion and his confusion and mortification with her “death”.
People believe that Romeo and Juliet’s deaths had been caused by their old family feud. As that may be true, that is not the whole truth of what really happened. This all went down in William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, where two teens of enemies fall in love, and take their own lives for each other. In reality, it had all been a misunderstanding. Romeo and Juliet are partially responsible for their own deaths as they acted too quickly, but their families feuding, and Friar Laurence’s interference had also caused their deaths.
In the prologue, the text says, "From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, / Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean." ( prologue. 3-4) The evidence shows that the ancient ill will between the families led to new fighting, and the citizen's blood made other hands unclean. The evidence proves that hatred influenced Romeo's death because all the sparring and slaughtering developing around him made him want to kill himself.
Romeo and Juliet’s deaths could’ve been avoided, but fate and flaws led them to their deaths. Romeo’s flaw played the biggest role in their fate. His tragic flaw was his impulsiveness. He let his emotions control him and didn’t think about what he was doing. In the beginning, he was upset because the girl he loved, Rosaline, didn’t love him back.
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a story of two lovers, who are forced to end their own lives in an attempt to be together. There are many people throughout the story who are partly to blame for this outcome, but the main influence on Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths is Romeo himself. This is because of his impulsive behavior and forcing others to carry the burden with him. At first, it seems that Romeo and Juliet would have just as much influence on the final outcome as each other, but the difference couldn’t be bigger.
When Romeo came in to ask Friar to marry him the Friar says that Romeo saw him previously saying that he couldn’t live without Rosaline. Then he instantly thinks that marrying a Montague to a Capulet would end the feud. This decision affects most of the outcome in this play. “To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.” Now the feuding families eventually stopped but only because Romeo and Juliet died.
Because of that reason, Romeo and Juliet's families were enemies to one another. The story never explains why they are actually enemies towards each other. It's just been that way through all generations. Juliet didn't give up on Romeo even though she wasn't allowed to see him or be with him. Her family wanted her to be with a capulet, and they had a guy picked out for her.
Romeo and Juliet's families hate each other and have had a feud for many years. Without this ancient feud Romeo and Juliet would have been able to freely love each other without having to be secret. Romeo's death was influenced by the hate between the two families. The reader is able to inference this from the Montague's and the Capulet's ancient feud. "
This would have saved Romeo from being banished and Juliet's grief. All of the events contribute to the final cause of the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet, the feud contributes quite a bit but the decisions of the other people involved in the teenagers' life plays a significant role in how they ended up
The long standing-family feuding and fate is ultimately to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Some people may think that Romeo and Juliet are ultimately to blame for their own deaths, because they both killed themselves. They are wrong, the
The feuding families were clearly a big part in the blame for the death of Romeo and
