Since he proved how big the world really was, we can now estimate our trips in today’s world We soon figured out the circumference of the Earth. Lastly, “Technology helped Christopher Columbus and his crew go across the ocean (Columbus).” People used technology in the past, but not like we use it today. If he didn’t use technology and show how useful it was maybe we wouldn’t have it today. This is important to history because his technology helped us create our technology
Britain, in fact, lost the war more than the Americans won it. With the best navy in the world, a better trained militia, and abundance of wealth, weapons, and supplies, it was Britain 's war to lose. When it came to the best navy in the world, it was no contest, the British ruled the seas. The British navy was feared throughout the world, they rarely lost battles. It protected Britain with great success.
In my opinion I think the the forces inside the French Empire were more important to control rather than the forces outside of the Empire because, there were only four countries free from Napoleons control which were Sweden, Britain, Portugal, and the Ottoman Empire. As for all of the countries in the French Empire that Napoleon controlled he also somehow ruled independent countries that included the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, Spain, and some of the German Kingdoms in Central Europe. Some of the rulers of these countries were even members of Napoleons family, as for that you can see that Napoleon didn't really care about anyone he just wanted to gain all of the power he could get. The reason why I think Napoleon only needed to deal with the people inside of the Empire is because he didn't really need to worry about the forces outside because it was unlikely for them to want to come into the French Empire
Americans from New York to San Francisco need to travel by boat, the shortest time to six months. It did not only impact economic development but also it made the government more difficult to control the country. The development of this transcontinental route provided a vein that could carry information, people, and goods across the whole mainland. The subsequent railroads that were built only paid tribute to this stately merits and achievements that changed the course of American history. Though the age of exploration and the wagon trains was over, the central railroad embodied the American spirit of the United States, which has made American overcome many difficulties on the way.
President Theodore Roosevelt wished to expand the United States’ influence on the world stage. He wanted to end the isolation that began in the country around the mid-1800s and wished to create a powerful homeland. During his two terms in office from 1901 to 1909, Roosevelt used vigorous strategies to deal with outside nations and felt that it would benefit a nation to be ready for any conflict. Before Roosevelt, not a single President had left the country during their time in office, but he was the first to leave to manage foreign relations. Roosevelt was successful in building a foreign policy that helped the United States become a global power by pushing for the creation of the Panama Canal, advocating for the addition of the Roosevelt Corollary
The head of an Oba was created by artists within the city and only through the permission of their current Oba (king). No one artist is given credit for its creation , so we only know that this piece comes from the Benin culture , made through lost wax bronzing, and is from the 16th century. The head is made in the honor of an Oba who has passed by his successor. The head of an Oba is a commemorative head somewhat the metal cousin to busts of roman culture. This head is made of brass and iron, brass being the basis for most of the head and iron only being used to form the eyes giving them a piercing almost intimidating stare.
During the early 1800’s, Robert Fulton developed the first commercial steamboat with the aid of Robert R. Livingston. This invention “secured American economic stability and influenced everyday life for over a century”. The steamboat made transportation much for efficient by shortening the time traveled, including that of upstream navigation. While Fulton and Livingston are the primary creators for this innovative invention, they do not deserve monopolies. Fulton and Livingston did however, create and extend a monopoly which the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional because of their excessive control of trade.
. . he concluded his report by asking for a little help from their Majesties, and in return he would bring them from his next voyage ‘as much gold as they need ... and as many slaves as they ask’" (Zinn). Therefore, although Columbus is credited for the founding of America, Zinn proves his heroic actions can be hindered by his violence towards the Awracks; however, when Columbus is mentioned in history, he is often given a positive and heroic characteristic. However, Columbus and the Europeans committed a lot of genocide when conquering the Native American land.
The high economic requirement to vote created by the signing of the Bayonet Constitution is one of the economic effects. Most Hawaiians couldn’t reach the requirement for money, leaving only the American and Europeans on Hawaii having the ability to vote. This correlates to the overthrow because it weakened the Native Hawaiians power on the government because they weren’t as wealthy as most foreigners on Hawaii. Another economic effect of the Bayonet Constitution was after King Kalakaua’s powers were taken from him, the only thing Kalakaua could do was to renew the Reciprocity Treaty with the United States. The renewal of the Reciprocity Treaty continued the duty-free importations of sugar.
The AFL was formed in 1886 and their main intention was to get higher wages, better working conditions, and a shorter work week for the members of the union, but they did not attempt to organize unskilled workers. In 1920, however, the growth of an economy took place. The economic growth took place in the mass-production industries mainly, such as automobiles, rubber, chemicals, and utilities. Samuel Gompers was the President of the AFL from 1886-1895 and 1895-1924. His leadership helped to make the AFL the largest and most powerful union in the country.
This only makes the Native people of the pacific Islands that much more impressive as they were able to navigate those waters with much less technology and advantages that the European colonizers possessed. Nevertheless, the Europeans knew that there was much more profits and trade opportunities yet to be discovered on these lands and ocean so therefore they pushed at full strength to map this region of the world out.
“It could not have been done without a representative, democratic political system; without skilled and ambitious engineers, most of whom had learned their craft in American colleges and honed in the war; without bosses and foremen who had learned how to organize and lead men as officers in the Civil War; without free labor; without hard working laborers who had learned how to take orders in the war; without those who came over to America in the thousands from China, seeking a fortune; without laborers speaking many languages and coming to America from every inhabited continent; without the trees and iron available in America; without capitalist willing to take high risks for great profit; without men willing to challenge all, at every level, in order to win all. Most of all, it could not have been done without teamwork” (Ambrose Introduction). Workers were immigrants from Ireland, some were former Civil War soldiers, and the largest amount of help came form the Chinese, these men were blacksmiths, carpenters, engineers, masons, surveyors, and even cooks. The railroads brought in more than ten thousand Chinese immigrants. With all this help being brought in, there were also white men being used as help to oversee the work of all the immigrants, which in return received one dollar a day coming in at thirty-five dollars a month
Lyndon B. Johnson was a very effective president. He wasn’t given an easy America to deal with, he was forced into the Vietnam problem. He had the same views as FDR. He was able to get stuff passed that FDR couldn’t, due to World War 2. He signed the Civil Rights Act and a tax cut, into law, that Kennedy couldn’t pass before his death.
It all comes down to motivation/mission, and the aid received from the home nation. The French never fully recovered both politically and militarily from the war with Spain before they begin their expedition. With a mission and motive being mostly to flex the French crown’s power by settling into Florida means that the crown had no real plans for colonization. In reference to other discussion throughout this class, the French took the same idea the Spanish used earlier. A stronghold within the territory to attempt to hold the whole area of Florida.
Panama canal will Help the economy with 2 Billion dollars annually with how all the Cargos boats and various People in boats for traveling for marketing and industrial material.Various methods the CPA saves materials for the Canal is to save most of the water the canal actually uses so they Conserve about 60% of water for the waters to rise and ships being able to have a clearing from the bottom of the canal to the boat itself and the amount of things is conserved is money that the united states is saving overtime. one problem when the US was making the canal was that when you have to take a big piece of land to make something you have to take out a lot of trees for such a big industrial idea. One thing the Us does is give some profit to Panama’s General Treasury each year which is about 800million dollars and with that it means that americans are making bank and with America give panama profit it gives that peacfullness like what panama asked for in the treaty so its a accommodation for both countrys in the
